So what is the best program that allows DS games to be played on the pc? i have no$gba so far, but the game wont load because its missing a saver file.

no$gba is the best, try the settings inside the emulator to fix the save size

ds emulation sucks and u will not get many games to work however

Yeah have to agree here ds emulators SUCK BIGTIME! ......altho some kinda work but crash often and are pretty weird to play using keyboard/mouse combo ...... theres no alternative for a REAL DS console  :)

besides that if you already own a DS it kinda defeats the object a little of portability :)

If you want to preview the games before putting on a flash card most review sites have either..

a) pictures of gameplay or b) videos :)

the other alternative is YOUTUBE and many other video websites that often have in game videos  :)

It seems though it could be useful for getting game snapshots to use for skins.

maby you may be lucky then if its purely for screen grabs :)

but as above theres lots of sites that have in game screenshots maby thats also an option  :)

Hi

Does anyone know why DS emulation is so bad? I don't get why it's so hard to emulate it? I mean, I've never tried it, but People on this board have told me that we've even got GC and PS2 emulation working fairly well. The GC is HOW many times more powerful than the DS?

How many more years have the PS2 and GCN been out over the DS?

It's not the lack of hardware power, but rather the fact that DS emulation is just getting out of it's infancy where as other emulators have had much longer to come about into their own.

Emulators don't just magically appear. They are some of the hardest programs to create. The simple fact that people can do it to begin with should be a pretty amazing enough feat... To say they suck is a horrible insult especially since the current DS emulators are the result of a year or more of hard work. How would you like to have created something in your spare time over the course of a year, just to have someone who knows nothing about the complexity of what you accomplished say it sucks because it isn't to their liking?

Devil_Spawn

True, but the ds uses well knows and more simple archetectures than the ps2 or gcn (easier to emulate)
a ds emulator is fairly simple to a gba one, however it still does take time, and it doesnt compair to the hardware in the slightest.

Koji

It is still not a simple piece of machinery. Look at the N64, compared to GCN/PS2 it was a relatively simple machine... but emulators STILL aren't perfect for it (try playing Rogue Squadron sometime as an example). And they still took years to reach the level of compatibility they are today.

If you think about the fact that only recently have that emu for PS2 has started to really shine and there has been 6-7 years since the system has been out compared to the almost 3 for the DS. It's not exactly fair to make a direct comparison.

I agree with Koji here.  Writing an emulator requires extensive knowledge about both the system you're emulating and the system that's emulating it, so saying that an emulator sucks is indeed a big insult.

Regardless, with no$GBA, you need to go into the options and manually set the save type/size.  I've found that no$GBA runs more games at a faster speed than the others, but desmume and iDeaS are also available for you to try.

Devil_Spawn

this is true, however the n64 is a very complex architecture, it even has a processor in the cd drive

i am positive that a ds emu will be finished eventually, however it is completely true that emulation is probably the most difficult thing to program.
