QuoteBye, scene.

I've decided to cease OE development, and leave PSP scene.
The reasons are various.
One of them is the time it consumes, which i'm losing from other things.
The other is related to my security. I didn't like Sony menaces to PS3 hackers.
I think it is better to leave now rather than end paying the consequences.

A wild guess here hes had that brush or a close brush with SONY that most of the good hackers/crackers/reverse engineers end up getting .. the DREADED CEASE AND DESIST letter/email etc :(

I wouldnt like to challenge their might or bank balance to throw at you so stepping down is pretty much the only option :(

on the bright side being on the net a long time tells you... where one falls another steps into the void/shoes and continues the task  :)

Dudu.exe

I dont think Sony can do Anything to him, the problem is the exposition of his name.. he is too much evidence

Sadly, it was only a matter of time. He had already left the scene once because of personal issues and what not. Is this truly the end? Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell. I'm sure others will take up where he left off. There is already another set of custom firmware out there and others will take up the banner eventually.

Wow this is pretty sad. He did a lot of great things for the PSP, he totally unlocked it for us so we can do practically anything with it. And plus he was a very smart, and very prompt developer. He had a new custom firmware for us within a couple days of a Sony official update, everytime.

This really is sad. And eventhough this does suck, I hope somebody steps up and takes over the custom firmware development. It would be a shame to go back to using devhook.

Ya sucks big time! And we wont go back to using Devhook as he is the one who made it as well I believe.

Really? I thought there was actually a couple other people that have kept devhook updated since the custom firmwares came out.

Wow, this really will suck if that's true.

No I was wrong. Booster originally made Devhook, Dark_Alex only modified it to work on firmware 2.71.

It's always sad when a hacker leaves the scene. I feel for you PSP owners.  :(

Thanks DarkAlex for all that has already been accomplished!

Relax folks. There are other programmers like becus25 working on custom PSP firmware.  It's sad that DarkAlex decided quit but it's not the end of the PSP scene. The latest 3.50 downgrader has recently been updated to work with Japan Lumines, making more than 25 million PSPs worldwide downgradeable.  The PSP homebrew scene continues to flourish including updates to Devhook and Dadelus (N64 emulator). Besides most UMDs and homebrew work fine with the latest DAX 3.40 OE custom firmware including PS1 emulation. The main problem with DarkAlex leaving the scene is that upcoming PSP games like God of War will not be playable on downgraded PSP's. That is a small price to pay for excellent PSP emulation. Plus I believe someone new will fill the void of DarkAlex in the future.

Well, as long as new versions of Devhook are created to keep up with future firmware releases, then that's good enough.

As a psp owner, and all the psp owners should think like that,DA is a legend ,and he will be back,i believe!
What i´m concerned,is that he was a gentleman when paradox said they had the loader for the PS3 and he just respect them, not showing what he´s got!I´m almost sure he´s playing iso´s on his PS3,and because of paradox we are not!
PS:And since DA´S custom firm,Devhook was dead!
Someone said this before"LEGENDS NEVER DIE!".See you soon Alejandro

DeVS

Well since he worked on Pandora I don't think he has retired from the scene, lol.
