insert the supercard without the sd in
about the removing SD card n' starting it, it will start GBA mode, with or without the sd card lol, problem is that it's trying to detect CF card, can't make it detect SD card no more... =) thanx for your suggestion though

One more thing lol, about the Passcard, i borrowed it from my friend, I was wandering if the passcard would do any help...

Hello all, I am new to this forum and look forward to the wealth of information.  I have just gotten into the supercard cf idea.  I purchased everything from one person and received a non-working SC cf as well as two working SC cf's.  Out of curiosity, I tore the broken one apart to check what may be wrong and it appeared one of the end pins(want to say 25) was broken where soldered to the board as if forced through.  I resoldered , but did not have time to test out right away so it sat there for a few days.  In the meantime my family is enjoying the use of the DS's and SC's then one of the SC's stops functioning, well come to find out apparently that is the downside to the cf cards is all those tiny pins and inserting the card wrong is very easily done as the same pin broke on the working one.  Now the aggrevation is setting in as I paid decent money for these and they are breaking so easily.  Now I found the time to check the last one I resoldered to see if I can get it working and it is very intermittent, sometimes the SC screen appears and other times it don', but either way it will not recognize the cf card at all out of the four I have available.  Great, slightly farther than before as it would not work to begin with.  Upon getting it to work few times in a row I test it holding L+R when powered and all tests fine besides no cf recognition, but I notice firmware 1.70 so I thought try to update.  I don't have the wireless capability, but I do have another SC so I try several ways first, but then one time I inserted with working SC then switched with the other needing updated less the cf in the slot and once inserted I then inserted the cf and it stayed on so I pressed the A button and it started to flash, but when finished it  looked like it the SC menu screen with the black at the bottom, but the menu was blank and the bottom screen was completely black.  Thought it was good to go anyway and restarted, but now it appears to not want to work half the time anymore as it did before.  I did not fuss with it much after that because I was bound to break something at this point.  Now, the other working one which the same pin broke I resoldered and confirmed a good solder job, but it will do nothing either.  Every once in awhile they will pull up two blank screens, but usually load up normally to the DS menu.  Sorry for the long post, hoping this will cut down on any further details and get everything on the table upfront.  Thank you for any help you offer.

I have no idea why you are having so many problems with your SCCF cards. I have had a SCCF for more than a year and it has been very reliable. Are you sure they are not fake? Perhaps your CF memory card is bending pins, or pushing the pins back inside the card? Anyway, the best way to take a SCCF apart is to use a carpenter knife to carefully cut ONE side of the case. That way the plastic case can be opened like a clam shell and the PCB removed without totally separating the case. If you think the firmware is messed up or you want me to take a look then PM me.

no.... when i said insert the card without the sd in, i meant after you had the flash setup ready -

1. boot up working card, load .bin firmware update
2. remove working card
3. insert broken card _without_ the sd card inserted
4. flash firmware

I tried removing the card with mine which is CF rather than SD, but it kept saying error reading flash id or similar.  I was able to insert the CF without CF , but to get it working I still had to insert the CF before pressing A to install for the process to continue.  I tried this several times with no luck, I am assuming this has something to do with the fact that the firmware was stored on the CF so it had to read that to install it to the SC.  Is this correct...or I may have different problems...THANKS!

ok this time im positive it will work  ;D ;D ;D

basically what you need to do is boot the attatched file from the working ds (unzip it first)

then switch cards to the other one (with the sd out so it doesnt reboot)

then press l+r+up to reflash the firmware, hopefully it will now fix your problem  :D ;D ;D ;D :D ;D

if that doesnt work try the sc cf button combo just incase :P
