I might start using this :] Does anybody know if it's possible to make the screen stretch to the DS's full limit?  Even if it would look ugly

That leaves off a small chunk on the sides though (21 pixels per side, 42 total).  I don't think there's a way to fit that small amount in, no.  You're not missing all that much really.  You're using 84% of the screen with the fullscreen mode as it is, which is plenty (41,088 pixels used at 214x192 out of 49,152 available pixels at 256x192).  Like you said, using that extra horizontal space would probably distort it horribly.  At least with the current method, proportions are preserved, so you're increasing the screen area by the same ratio/percentage both horizontally and vertically.

Here's an image to demonstrate.  The first is what Lameboy currently offers, using the bilinear filtering to look nicer.  The second image is what happens when you use Paint to resize the original GBC screen size to fit the entire DS resolution, which isn't very pretty.

In any case, I'm really liking the bilinear filtering.  It really makes everything look a lot better in fullscreen mode.

do the Oracle games work with this yet? because if they do then im definately gunna start using it

Any real good, epic RPG titles for the GB or GBC?  That's the only reason I am into the retro consoles, I normally focus too much on the graphics when it's not an RPG   :-\

Not pokemon or DQ(M)  Ive played them all.   I want real gems that seemed unknown

Try Azure Dreams.  It might get old kinda quickly for some, but for some reason I'm in love with it.  I'll admit the story isn't that great and the characters have no personality (two issues which apparently aren't present in the PS1 version of the game), but I still like it.

It's sort of like Pokemon in that you raise monsters and use them to fight other monsters, but getting them is a lot harder given that there's only one item that acts like a Pokeball and it's the rarest item in the game.  Otherwise you have to find the monster eggs in the tower.  You don't know the identity of the monster inside unless you either hatch it, use a TruSpec item, or return to town.  You'll quickly learn that some items are completely useless and should be used or thrown out immediately, some items are valuable and should be held until you can sell them in town to upgrade your house (so you can hold more monsters), and some items you want to keep with you at all times (like a sword and shield for instance).

ok, i can save with "X" but how can i load the savegame? its very difficult to save in zelda (start + select + a + b)

dantheman

It's not a savestate, but instead is the way you save normally.  You have to save in-game first (using the Start+Select+A+B button combo for Zelda there) and then press either X or L+R in order to send the updated save info to the *.sav file.  Then when you reboot the DS, Lameboy should use the updated *.sav file and you should be able to continue your progress.  Think of it more like the L+R+A+Select button combo for GBA games on a Supercard rather than the Real Time Save function.

Ok dan, I haven't given Lameboy a try yet. But I'm really wanting to play some of these older, great, GBC games. Also the game you mentioned.

So what's your opinion on this emulator(I ask because you're very knowledgeable in homebrew)? Is it really worth using? Do most of the popular, well-liked, games run anywhere near full speed?

Thanks for any info.

well this emulator is amazing i love it, no compiling and direct selection. also the option of regular screen or full screen with a bilinear filter that makes everything clearer. this emulator plays most games at regular speed like zelda and pokemon series. it also play dragonwarior games at a good speed when  at regular screen. and to top it off you have a speed button, the L shoulder button. give it try you might end up loving it. :smitten:

Thank you tennisgy.

And wow, this emulator really kicks ass. I'm already liking MUCH more than Goomba. It's really nice not having to compile the games anymore. I love how there's only one file to mess with also.

And stretching the screen, is very nice. Yeah, there's still a little bit left on the sides, but at least the screen isn't all distorted looking. Very nice. Oh, and it going into sleep mode is also nice.

And I see that X is for saving. But how to do you load your save? I'm guessing the method that dan gave only works for the Zelda games?

Thanks for any info.
