Is upgrading to 1.81 worth it?

I have a NDs Lite and a supercard Micro SD flashed with 1.63. So far all the games I have tested work well (except Diddy Kong Racing, but I never really much cared for it anyhow.) Even some of the newer games like Pokemon diamond, pearl and Naruto ninja council 3 work fine so far. So is it really worth it to upgrade to 1.81 when everything seems to working fine? Also how well do the cheats work in 1.81. Is is easy to patch a game with cheats (like the gba cheats) or is it a complicated process. Does 1.81 still have GBA support or was that removed? Anyone care to share their thoughts/opinions about this matter.

there is no disadvantage to 1.81 afaik, however there is improved compatibility.

ds cheats work fairly similar to gba cheats, there just isnt quite as many

How do cheats actually work? I am curious to see what they are like. Is there a cheat tutorial or something?

Can anyone tell me if GBA games are still supported with firmware 1.81.

If they used to they still will. I never thought that nds lite scsd had that support

IMHO, No.  I am still at 1.63 and not having any problems.  I have always upgraded until that point, but stopped after reading about problems ( some say there are no problems).

I am all about compatibility.  Cheats and other nonessential functions are not worth it to me for an upgrade.  I think the focus on compatibility stopped with 1.63 and bells and whistles became the focus.  Of course from what I here slot 2 is winding down anyway.

the only change to gba functionality is that QPC saving is broken in DS mode
however it works great if u boot ur ds into gba mode.

for ds games, there are only advantages of 1.81

I keep upgrading to new firmwares myself and as soon as I heard about the NDS cheat function, I was there! The cheat function is great and has a great advantage over something like action replay DS cuase it can take AR, CB and dipstar codes plus you can activate/deactivate codes at anytime while playing a game. Also there are books for the NDS games which are handy as guides or notes etc.

It still plays GBA games just the same as any previous version as far as I know but then again the only GBA game I play is Fire Pro Wrestling 2 (the most played game on my DS lol) and maybe some Metroid Fusion.
