Help with Supercard SD and Moonshell

Just got a Supercard SD for my GBA SP.

I'm having trouble setting up Moonshell 1.71.
I know I am supposed to set it up for EXFS, and that this option is supposed to be available when you select the drive to install to (in the moonshell setup), but the option is not there.
Am I going nuts? Can other people set up moonshell 1.71 for EXFS because I sure can't figure it out.

Is there another way to get some videos onto my GBA SP?

Moonshell is a DS program and therefore will not run on a GBA at all.  For videos, you could try using the "filmplay" file found on the Supercard website combined with the 1.3 version of the GBAMP/M3 movie converter, though I have no idea where you're going to find that.  The other option is Meteo, which you can get from http://www.gbaflashguide.com/main.php?p=utilities

Hmmm okay thanks for the help.  I am checking out Meteo to see how it works.

I thought Moonshell would work but has to be setup for EXFS that's all.. That's what I've been told in a few guides anyway. Anyways I managed to get an old version of Moonshell (1.5) and it has the EXFS option.. so looks like it was taken out at some point. It will only accept a video of 30megs though so is not all that useful

While it is true that you can use Moonshell on a GBA flash cart using the EXFS option, that's only if you'll be launching it in DS mode regardless.  You see, traditional GBA flash carts didn't have FAT access, so everything had to be built into the rom itself.  The EXFS option, I believe, allowed you to embed up to 32 MB of music and movies into a single *.ds.gba rom, which you could flash to your GBA flash cart and launch using a passthrough device or FlashMe.  Moonshell always has been a program that runs solely in DS mode.

Meteo works fine for what it does, though I wouldn't recommend using a bitrate of over 50 or so.  A complete guide to the older version can be found at http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/Meteo and most of the settings apply to the newer version as well.  The main thing to keep in mind is that the final *.gba file must be less than 32 MB, that is, 33,554,432 bytes) for it to run on the Supercard.  Depending on the bitrate you set the video to, this can be anywhere between 5 and 25 minutes.  Anything longer than that will require you to split the video file into several pieces and convert each one separately.

Thanks very much for the info! I'm going to try the Movie player and GBA Movie Converter that is on the supercard website, which I did not see before when I downloaded the supercard files.

I will also try out Meteo. Also I wonder if you could answer this question too, since I"m having trouble with something else..
I'm trying to play NES games and Game Gear games, which should be supported directly by the supercard SD right? So I should be able to just have .nes and .gg files on the sd card, and it should run?
Well this is what I'm trying, and it isn't working. The games show up in the list but I just get a white screen when I try to load one of the games (either nes or game gear)
Do I need emulators on the card as well or something, do you know?

Thanks again for the helpfulness.

edit: never mind, I think I found the answer in another post of yours. http://www.scdev.org/forum/index.php?topic=10373.0
I'll try going back to 1.7 then 1.8 then 1.81 and hopefully that will work
edit2: Did exactly that and everything's working great! Nostalgia over my old Game Gear setting in :D

edit 3:

Is there any way to add GBC support? They don't show up in the supercard menu list when I add them, gameboy games show up fine though. I remember reading that GBC wouldn't work directly off the card, but is there any way to use them with an emulator or anything?

The problem I think I remember hearing about the Supercard-supplied one is that the software they provide is the wrong version.  I don't know where to get the right one.

Glad to hear that you got the built-in emulators to work correctly again.  However, *.gbc files should be recognized and launched in the same emulator used for *.gb files.  I'm not really sure why they're not showing up for you.  Worst case, you could create your own Goomba Color compilation using the latest version (which will get rid of the border color changing issue by the way).  To do this, read the following thread:  http://www.scdev.org/forum/index.php?topic=10084.0

hmm yeah I'm definitely not getting the converter that is on the supercard website to work.  The video shows up all scrambled, the audio seems to work though.

Thanks for the link to Goomba I'll check it out.

edit: The gbc games seem to be working now just by themselves, without anything done with Goomba.  Weird, wonder what I was doing differently before.. Anyways I think I'm good now :)
