Folded Paper trick stopped working - "Cannot find SD card"

Hi

Well, about three months ago one of my supercard sd's started saying "Cannot find SD card, Please turn off GBA." after going through the wash. (That's the 2nd supercard SD that's gone through the wash, and the third video game item that's been damaged by water :( )

However, using Bitbit's trick, I was able to get the SCSD working again. Bitbit's trick is to put a small folded piece of paper inside the SD card slot in order to apply slight pressure to the SD card.

For a month, this supercard stayed on my shelf. Then, tonight, I had a reason to use it. And what message to I get upon startup? "Cannot find SD card, Please turn off GBA"

I've tried turning off and back on the nds, using new paper, folding the paper more times, using a diffren't SD card... everything I can think of.

Any help? It doesn't make sense that my supercard would just break.

have you tried cleaning the contacts !?

does the SD work in the computer ?

Yeah, try taking it apart and cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser. Also inspect the SD slot of the Supercard closely. You might get lucky and find a simple solution to your problem.

Hi

The SD card works, and besides as I've said I tried several diffren't SD cards.

I'm hesitant to open the SC up, as the last time I did that, (The other one that went through the wash, I was told to clean the contacts with an eraser by an scdev member) I THINK I broke it more, though I'm not sure of this.

If it worked with the paper trick it probably meant some of the contacts were corroded by the water and now that it's become more corroded over time it won't read at all any more. I don't really see a way around opening it up. bitblt is right - erasers do wonders to cartridges and slots. Back in the day I revived many a 2600 cart that way. Just make sure you get all the eraser bits out before you close it up again.

Hi

So, before I open it...

1. Exactly where do I need to clean with my eraser?
2. How do I go about getting the eraser bits out. Blowing?
3. I don't know if you can help with this but... the evil water destroyed my SD card's ram. Since I'm opening it and since I have a chance to ask... any way the ram might be fixed?
