Firefox is an internet browser.   I don't use internet explorer to surf the net , I use Firefox.  With Firefox you can download add ons for it.  Such as gmail checker, tool to download youtube videos and whatnot.   It is free  go to www.mozilla.org

Devil_Spawn

are you SERIOUS????????... THIS IS THE INTERWEBS!!!!

but firefox is an ALTERNATIVE to internet explorer... its faster, and better... and has no relation to it

I second that OPERA is good too :)

Yeah, Opera is cool...

One thing I think is cool but also can be evil: ietab, the plugin for Firefox.  It's cool that you can set it up to run stuff that only works in IE to work in a tab that's actually IE in firefox, but it kind of gives crappy IE only web developers an excuse to not make their stuff right.

Firefox is a distro of Mozilla, a Internet Browser for Linux. It's only been recently that they ported it to Windows. BTW, When I'm using Windows I use Opera

sonicwind

what are the advantages of opera? do they have the same amount of add-ons as firefox?  because there are just so many great add-ons :D

VoX

Not really any, though I find it easier to browse and I like the interface better, but thats just my opinion. I use Firefox when I'm using Linux (Like right now)

i use regular adblock not the plus & its a great addon
but i hate noscript

chatzilla - which is a irc addon
password exporter - i format my pc every 3 months so this is very handy
Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer - for the same reason as above

I too like Opera due to the 9 speed dials for the regularly used sites (such as this one).

I have however, found several drawbacks such as internet banking (among others) which will not function in Opera (though they do in Firefox). Additionally, I sometimes get terrible slowdown problems with .pdf files which have been opened in Opera which doesn't happen with other browsers. Setting up the flash add-ons took a while too (several days!), but this was Adobe's fault due to a misnamed file!

Apart from these few glitches, it's pretty good.

opera...
control+enter for instant login :smitten:
speed dial  :smitten:
faster than firefox (on my pc) :smitten:

and, personally, i dont have compatibility issues

originally started using opera years ago due the the ability to quickly toggle images on and off was a blessing when I was on dial up :)

I like the make yer own custom search bars I have them for all my favorite webstores and search engines I just have them to hand on the main toolbar :)
