what should i do? i can't repair from nintendo since it's pretty old i might get a shell what colour should i get. i'm so angry!(my fault for dropping it once ) or i'll try send it to any1 who wants to repair it/dismantle+shell also the black thing on the picture keeps falling out

Yeh give it a go, get black it looks very nice

My young boy 5 got angry with kirby and opened and shut his ds phat with force and broke the hinge, we found it hidden under his bed..lol


After a ticking off about his temper, i ordered a new black case off of http://www.dealextreme.com  get the triwing screw driver as well.. it was rediculously cheap.

The key to putting it the new case is extreme patience and complete observation of how it comes apart.

If you try this here's a few tips.. or rather the mistakes I made..


Tip... the new topscreen cover that comes with the package is slightly different from the original one, the thicker black border goes at the top.. I only noticed this when it was all back together, as i had put it on upside down   also note it comes with peel back plastic on both sides though it's very hard to see or pull off.

Another Tip.. on the bigger data bus leads keep the insertion pressure on while putting the lock clasp down, this will ensure a good connection and avoid the ds shutting down 1 second after switching on.

more tips.. there's a youtube video around of someone taking one apart and then back together step by step, take a gander before doing anything .. also 'jmr' (scdev-mod) has a step by step picture guide on these very forums somewhere

1more.. the clear plastic power/charge light cover doesn't come with the new case, use the one from the old.. it's push fit


On the whole it's not a hard job, but definately fiddly and the screws that come with the new case are very tight to insert all the way in.

then find someone with a valid one and borrow that lol
