THinking about getting a second DS, a DS Lite.

I would like to get a Supercard that goes into the DS slot and doesn't stick out at all
And I'd preferably like to just turn the thing on and be able to select from the list without having to do anything extra. Would I Have to flash my new DS Lite?

I use a Supercard DSOne for my ds lite. It goes in the slot 1 (ds cartridge slot) and doesn't stick out. It uses MicroSD memory. You don't have to flash your ds lite. Once the software is set up (downloaded from the supercard website) and installed on your microSD card all you need to do is copy the .nds files over.

Hope this helps

an R4DS, M3 simply and SC DSone are quite popular slot-1 cards, which means good community support.

the above cards work with non-flashed DS units, but there are advantages of flashing anyway (like download play when someone else uses a flash cart).

Do you still have to use the supercard software to patch each DS game?

i don't believe so, not with an R4 anyway (that's what i use), you just put the .nds rom file onto the microSD. you may want to use a tool to reduce file sizes though but that's about it

So anyway how much ($) can I pick one of these Supercard slot 1's for? Just want it to play GBA/DS games (and GB/GBC games if possible).

I'll also be able to use a rumble pak with it right?

None of the slot 1 cards DS1/R4/M3/etc are capable of playing GBA games. You need a slot 2 to play GBA games. If you want to play GBA and GB/GBC games then you should get a Supercard lite.

{Grant me the Peace of mind}
My Gear:  NDSphat                  -PSPphat
             NDSlite-crimson/black -PSPslim (2gb ms)
             Superkey              -fimeware 4.01m33-2
             Supercard Mini sd(1gb)
             supercard dsone(2gb)

a slot 2 like supercard lite only supports gba games, to play gb/gbc games you'll need a emulator for gb/gbc games.
can't remember the name of the one I'm using but gb/gbc games work on my scds1

The Supercard Lite (non-Rumble) actually contains a built-in GB/GBC emulator called Goomba Color that works for most games, but it's not the latest version of it.  The emulator you're using is probably Lameboy, another good choice.

With the SCDS1, you do not have to run the rom thru the supercard patching software.

And for the SCLite

That is not true at all. see post by dantheman. There is also a nes emulator (older version) as well.
