Why/how does the Supercard DS One skip the DS Main Menu?

In other words, is there something that sets the SCDS1 apart from the CycloDS?

SCDS1 has the ability to multitask while running DS games. You can be playing a game, then activate the cheat menu or guide system (text reader), then resume your game. SCDS1 is the first and only card to support this multitask technology. (I read recently Cyclo DS added similar multitask technology.)

SCDS1 is the only card to support a multiple save management system. That feature is nice if two or more people share SCDS1 for playing games.

SCDS1 is the only card to support homebrew reset, as well as in-game reset. Reset means you can return to the Supercard menu.

SCDS1 also has brightness control, in-game slow motion, clean ROM support, clean Opera browser support, GBA game linking, SLOT 2 Supercard linking, moonshell and plug-ins built into the OS, improved skin support, and 100% DS game compatibility**.
(** requires a fast microSD like Kingston (Japan) or Sandisk Ultra series.)

SCDS1 even supports Download Play fix.

Holding Select will NOT stop the SC-DSOne (OR R4/M3 Simply) auto booting from my experience even on a flashme'd device.

However simply remove the cart OR run the nds bios from the flash card if you need to change your options or use pictochat :-)

It works for me.  Try holding SELECT a little bit longer.

You can without a power cycle and holding SELECT.

Hmm,

I'm running flashme 8a now and the version where holding select boots slot2, if I hold Start I get the warning screen which then disappears without pressing a button to the SCDSONE menu, I know it didn't work with Flashme 7 where select booted NDS (worked with a slot2 SC CF) as I used to do this but when I got the SCDSONE could no longer.

Someone posted on here about pictochat, I believe the NDS bios was dumped and put on the web somewhere, running this from the SC-DS One in effect gets you to the DS menu - without removing the card.

It'd be nice to not need to keep this on my card and simply hold select, but I'm not going to waste too much time worrying about it.

I meant to say you CAN'T without a power cycle and holding SELECT. Also holding select should work with or without Flashme.

I tried from Cold boot, so are you saying your flashme'd ds can get to bios by holding select with the SCDSOne in (I have a V1 red PCB Model)

Yes, on my flashme'd DS (phat/lite) with DS1 (V1 red PCB) I hold SELECT during power up to get to the Nintendo DS OS screen (bios).

But which version of FlashMe are you using bitblt?  I used to do the same thing until I upgraded to v8a, which works differently.

I'm still using Flashme v7 lite because I own a DS-Link.  However when I got home this evening I tried holding SELECT and it didn't work. :-\ I even tried with Noflashme, Flashme v7 lite, Flashme v8a, and Flashme No autoboot. It doesn't matter waht I use my DS1 doesn't boot to the Nintendo DS OS anymore. That's strange because I'm pretty sure it worked before, like you said Dan. Maybe something changed with DS1 firmware 1.01 version?  Maybe I was thinking of my slot 2 Supercards? Regardless holding SELECT doesn't work now. ::scratching head::

dai_uk

thought I was going mad, My slot 2 SC-CF allowed select to boot to nds bios but my DSOne (V1) has never allowed thison my ds phat flashed with flashme v7 even with the old 1.0 firmware.

Flashme 8 and firmware 1.01 are what I'm on now - still can't hold select to get to bios so I either remove card or boot nds firmware from SC-DSONe it's no problem but I thought I was missing something when you said you could get it to work!

Thanks for posting this, Dan, I didn't know this was an option.

I use my DS's alarm clock function every day to get up, so I usually just take out the SCDS One (no big deal) and then boot to the NDS menu to set the alarm and just leave it on all night. Now, I guess I can be even lazier and not even take out the SCDS One, wewt!
