Why/how does the Supercard DS One skip the DS Main Menu?

Just wonering why and how the SCDS One skips the main DS menu, even disregarding a setting to the contrary in the DS BIOS...

The idea of the system booting up like this worries me because it seems that doing something contrary to the system's options (bypassing them or hacking them) would cause damage in the long term, but that's beside the point.

I'm also curious as to the actual method. It it an exploit in the DS system, or is it a system call in the SLOT-1 Device to load the DS menu, or whatever. Thanks.

well the hardware software causes that need a way its helpful but most supercards do that theres no need to worry its normal

LOL... just responded to your post on the other supercard forum... Everyone tells me that there's no need to worry, but I'd worry less if I knew what was going on...

Anyway,

The "hardware software" causes the strange booting? Is this the SC harware/software or the DS hardware/software, and how/to what is it helpful?

roger860

the supercard causes that to happen it kind of overdrives the ds options

is your Nintendo DS Flashed?  Flashme just boots supercard directly.. there is a flashme version without autoboot .. so you can set in DS otions to Autoboot the DS slot or not

roger860

mines not flash thats just normal for supercard to boot automatically

I don't have a SC, but I have the auto-boot option disabled. My question is: Does the SC autoboot whether or not this setting is set? Specifically the SC DS One (not any of the SLOT-2 SC's), as it is a SLOT-1 device and therefore does not require a PassMe... (perhaps a SCDS-1 owner can verify this... roger?)

Dudu.exe

I dont know how works on non flashed DS.. but should work as any DS game card

Hmm... I haven't seen any pictures of it in the DS menu, and unfortunately no reviews mention it either.

IMO: Will it be fine? Probably, but before I buy I'd still like some confirmation as to what it does. My real question, I guess, is the PassMe's do not require some hackish overridden auto-boot, and not all SLOT-1 devices require it either (CycloDS and DS-XTREME)...

Anywys, if anyone else knows for sure on a non-flashed DS... that'd be awesome.

PassMe1/2, Superpass1/2 and the many other passthrough clones are hackish, and all work exactly the same way. PassMe devices trick the DS by intercepting the header of a real game cart and changing the game start address to redirect DS mode execution to the GBA boot address.

All other pass devices are "NoPass" devices. NoPass devices contain encrypted DS code and behave the same way as a real game cart. NoPass devices do not rely on security holes in the firmware to execute code in DS mode.

Other than DS-Link, all slot 1 cards (DS1/R4/M3/Cyclo/DS-X/etc.) are NoPass devices. Some slot 1 cards like DS-X behave similar to a real game cart, requiring the Nintendo health warning screen to be touched, and the game selected from the DS game menu like a real game cart.  NoPass devices like DS1 skip the Nintendo health warning screen and boot directly to the Supercard  OS menu.  Personally I prefer the way DS1 boots directly to the OS. It's a cool feature.

Do you know which slot 1 cards (nopasses?) boot like a real game cart (I know that the DS-X and CyclosDS both boot normally, and I've been considering getting the Cyclos just for that reason...), as I prefer having the option.

In other words, is there something that sets the SCDS1 apart from the CycloDS?

I think you just hold 'select' on boot-up to bypass sc-ds1 autoboot.

As for stuff that sc-ds1 has the cyclo hasn't?  realtime cheat menu and book/guide is SC exclusive.
Yes I'm mad

its pretty silly if u want a card just cause its doesn't auto boot but its actually pretty helpful even if u have a slot 2 supercard u tell it to boot it so its pretty useful(i was talking about scdsone)

Well not really, but let's not get into that as it is a personal preference... (I don't auto-boot my DS, therefore nothing else should unless I tell it to, it's a long story, let's leave it at that)...

Press SELECT to stop the autoboot? Is this with FlashMe or unflashed?
