Its come to the point were it will freeze after 3-30 m and then when i try to restart it, it gives the ring of death.  And after unplugging every thing and leaving it for 10 or so minutes it will work for a few minutes again.  So, I know about the towel trick, any other options?

I think you may need to do the x-clamp replacement mod and re-do the thermal compound
Yes I'm mad

Check to make sure the power supply has proper ventilation too. The power supply can cause ROD.

Oh, I had no idea about that.

I don't really want to take the 360 apart either.

Send it to Microsoft and they will fix it for free.

with the way things are, i wouldn't touch the 360 with a stick.

my friend bought one during christmas and had no fewer than 4 exchanges. what's worse is he can't get a refund because the 360 was part of a bundle , a refund would mean buying back those games he's already traded. however, the shop did provide him with a free 3 year warranty.

I bought mine on launch day, 1yr and 9months ago, and have not a single problem. There is not doubt a problem with the older units though, but the new ones coming out now have a whole redesigned heat sink that has fixed the problems ALOT of people have had with the red rings of death.

Yeh, I found that out and ordered a shipping label.  Twelve days though!  Nintendo got my DSL label here in 5.  I tried the towel trick, too.  no luck.

my brother inlaw had the "ring of death" problem so he sent his xbox back to be fixed & 30 days later it happened again
so he paid some online store £50 to fix it & get an additional high speed fan fitted & its been ok for 9 months

Well, that shouldn't happen to me.  Like DeVS said, they have the new 360s shipping

Microsoft really botches the way they do those shipping boxes.   They should have something worked out with box compaines scattered all over the world, where it takes a day or 2 to get a box anywhere.   They should ship you out your replacement the day after they get your broken box, even if they have to ship out some new units as replacements.   They should offer you a replacement up front option, where they send you a repaired box, before you send them your 360.   They should even look at making a deal with EB/Walmart/Target to let you return 3 red light xboxes to them for exchange.   Being without a console for a month multiple times is not a good solution.
