not to get off subject about all the stuff you were talkin about but---

I Get old DOS Games that are protected by the ESA (THERE OLD FOR GOODNESS SAKE! ) is that "stealing?" the ESA Even protects some games for some companies that don't even EXIST anymore!  so No one is losing money so i feel obligated to get them..I also do download some full version OLD Windows 95 games...is that a crime?

games are/can be copywrite protected for upto 75 years even after the creator has passed away or died hence old dos games are still subject to law!

BTW I don't pirate ANYTHING (including 10-year-old games) anymore Because of my Mom and Dad.

oh you dont pirate ..but you still use pirated software?  so that makes it ok becayse you didnt pirate it?

yeah avoiding piracy has to be a consciencious decision of doing the right thing since you probably wont get legally caught. The ethics stand solidly and cant be ignored; piracy is a major financial loss for manufactors and is the equivalent of stealing no matter how great or small someone actually pirates.

Its still annoying though that to backup something you paid for is still considered piracy. How does that hurt a company if you only use that backup copy only for yourself and store away the original that you bought in a safe place? And a backup is aptly named; what if you legitamately lose the original or it gets corrupted? If i remember correctly, there is supposed to be a right to backup 1 archival file if you actually bought the original. Problem is, this process of obtaining a backup ends up breaking coprights. This would technically make VHS and DVD recorders pirating tools since you can record live TV which is copyrighted. So you have the right to a backup but you cant legally obtain it. Yeah, that makes sense. It seems the only legally proof way would be to beg the copyright holder for permission of getting that supposed right of having a backup.

Of course, this creates legal nightmares like backing up a copy of pirated copy that someone bought. So to make things simple, all copying is made illegal--you dont actually own the software you only own the supposed licence to use it. And yet DVD, VHS, digital recorders, keep selling with impunity.

Piracy laws are the most stupid thing right after Pepsi coffe! Luckly here in Australia ! The government couldn't care less about copyed DVD's or Games or Music

Meh..ok so gettin old ESA protected 80's games is a crime...LIKE THAT IS GONNA STOP ME?! Har de Har Har! it wont stop me STEALING Legend of Zelda PH for DS off the internet When it comes out I tell 'u what!
