Have noticed some random black screens on the follow games:

Final Fantasy Chocobo Tales (E)
Mario Kart DS (E)
Pokemon Diamond (E)

I'm using a Kingston 1gb MicroSD, i've ran the Dectest5 and it tests out as good as the rest of the cards and Castlevania PoR runs fine without any skips or stutters on the main screen.

All of these are untrimmed, and have atm trimmed the Mario Kart rom and am playing through to see if that fixes the problem. Anyone have any advice on the black screens? I can hear the game playing and it keeps going, I just can't see anything.

got the same setup but never had blank screens.

does it ever happen with genuine games? what firmware version is on your r4?

Real carts never lock up, I've played FF3 and Castlevania: POR on retail carts and never had a problem.

Running kernel v1.1, have formatted a few times as well. I trimmed the 'normal' rom of Mario Kart and FF Chocobo Tales with the R4 trimmer and so far they haven't black screened, I'm hoping that its ok now.

use NDSTOKYO TRIMMER see if they work then

i think the latest firmware is v1.11, you could try changing to that and see if makes any difference

Actually used the NDS Tokyo v.44 trimmer on Metroid Prime hunters and it gave me loading problems so I went back to all normal roms, and then trimmed the black screen roms with the R4 trimmer and so far so good (knock on wood!). Kernel v1.11 is what I have too, forgot a 1 off the other post.
