Hmm... just tried burning with a regular size DVD-R and still no luck. I'm gonna just start looking for a regular DVD that works instead of constantly having to order miniDVDs online when I run out. So anyone know which is the best DVD brand that works with the cube? I've also heard somewhere that RWs might work, so I'm gonna give one I have laying around a shot just for fun. Also, if the ISO is the right size in the first place, should I bother running it through FSTFIX before burning?
My Music

Nearly all of my songs are made with Fruity Loops, except for one where I used Reason. I recommend looking at my ambient stuff, and staying away from old songs, which are pretty crappy.

Have you got access to another burner to try?

or know someone with one you could try burning them with ?

Ya, my brother has another burner, I don't think it's the same kind as mine, so I suppose there's a possibility it could work. I'll give it a shot later tonight.

Hmm.. I still haven't used a different burner, however I got the game to start when I switched the AC memory card with a regular one. Unfortunately it was a one time thing, since it doesn't seem to want to boot anymore. Once I get the game going, it's fine, it's just starting it that creates problems. I think it still might have something to do with the laser, be it that it's set too high or too low (it is currently at 200).

Seems odd that changing mem card made it start and then stop again. Try doing things like setting the time and date for the gamecube ect in the gamecube settings... probably will do nothing but you never know.

Otherwise your assumption that it could be laser setting would seem logical, maybe you could keep backing it off till it can't read even originals, then go forward from there. My own experince with gamecubes since i have no way of reading the setting, is that they needed tweaking very slightly, 1/20-1/16 of a turn, anti-clockwise to get them reading backup reliably.

Well I just gave it a shot with the POT set to 300, and the disc booted first shot (regular size DVD-R). Second time and once again it didn't work. I made sure everything was the same as the first time I tested it. It seems to be a sort of hit and miss situation. I think for the time being, whenever I feel like playing a backup I'll just have to hope it works, but once I feel up to it I'll start lowering the POT in tiny increments and see which one works best.

EDIT: Just tried with the miniDVD, and it works 100% of the time. Thanks a lot for the help guys :D
