I just found this on r4 website
http://www.r4ds.com/news1-en.htm

Look like the new version have side-load microSD.

kentdsfreak

hmm that's interesting. having the sd loader on the side is less convenient than what we have now

mudlouse1

i'd prefer it on the side, but that's just me.

what's more interesting is the site says there's nothing changed "for now", i wonder if they have anything planned.

kms

just as the site has stated, just the shell has changed, the slot is still at the end.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I'd rather see them working on firmware fixes to get things working that don't (like, say, Worms 2) than building a new shell for a card that spends most of it's life inside the system anyhow!

Doggy124

I think if they said "for now" it will has another change in future

Why don't they just say "We design a new shell"???

I think it mean it hasn't finished yet.

and if it has side-load, the PCB must change

maybe they found their hardware limit and design a new hardware to fix the problem.

but...that is only my guess

Lord Bodak

I doubt that it's side-loading, the curves look the same on both sides of the card.  I bet it's just a new shell.

^ Yep, not really a big deal.
Setup:
White Lite
Slot 1: CycloDSx2GB Kingston Japan, Supercard DSOne+1GB Nokia(J), 16G G6 DS Real, 16G DS-Linker, R4x1GB Kingston(J),
Slot 2: G6 Lite
PSP: 3.40 OE-A

Ya I kinda doubt we see any truely "new" forms of DS mod carts. Seems like all the limits have been reached in the scene. Only area left for improvements is homebrew stuff. Hopefully it wont be long till all the emus are ironed out.

well, i wouldn't mind 2 microsd slots :)

Devil_Spawn

its not like you can remove the microsd whilst its in the ds anyway, really

Sure you can, I do it a lot.  One of the big advantages to a spring-loaded microsd slot.
