Just a question; I'm wondering if it's for sure true that you need to put a bit of electrical tape over the WiiKey mod chip when installing it. I think someone has told me before it's to prevent short-circuiting or something, heehee.

I think i put one on the bottom and then then covered the top with tape (and solder points) to not short out anything, and to also hold it in place and not move around. So, yeah you can and should in my opinion, especially the bottom. Now with that said, this was not a solder in place, i used wires to the points.
