Just flashed my Lite

Hey guys,

I finally got up the nerve to flash my DS Lite, and everything went fine(it was actually easier than I thought).

So, I flashed it with the normal version of flashme, v8. Now, since I'm completely new to flashme, I didn't really know about the boot up process. I think I should have installed the No autoboot version.

If I have a slot 2 cart in my DS, then the DS boots straight to slot 2, instead of my slot 1. And i know all i have to do is hold Select to boot straight to my slot 1 instead on power up. But, with a cart like the CycloDS, holding Select goes into that carts recovery mode. Which is kind of a problem.

So, my question is, would installing the No autoboot version of flashme solve my problem? Would the DS boot straight to my slot 1 at start up, if I have a slot 2 cart in my DS also?

And if the No autoboot version of flashme is what I need, will I have to short the SL1 one again to install it over the normal version of flashme? Or can I just run the No autoboot version from a slot 1 cart, and it will just overwrite the normal version?

Also, on the flashme site, the No autoboot version has the words (stealth) next it. No autoboot(stealth), is how it reads. So will this version still take away the Health & Warning screen, eventhough it has the words stealth next to it?

Thank you for any help. I know these are probably stupid questions, but I just want to make sure I get everything right.

EDIT: Nermind. No autoboot is what I wanted, and I did need to short the SL1 again. Although, when I started No autoboot in my DS, the progress meter was at 66% already. So I didn't have to flash it for very long.

not sure for V.8 but v.7, if you reinstall FlashMe, you have to bridge SL1 again.

Yeah, I had to bridge it again for v8. For some reason, I thought that once you got flashme installed on your DS, then you wouldn't ever have to bridge it again to install another version of flashme.

But it's easy though. I'm no longer worried about bricking, but it would still be nice if you didn't have to short it everytime.

Yes, it still has the warning intact.

Here are your 5 flavors of ver8,

Flashme (DS startup and health & warning screen removed)
Flashme_Stealth (startup and warning screen left intact)
Noflashme (Flashme Uninstaller, all versions, all DS's)
Flashme_noauto (boots slot-1 flash card first, rather than slot-2, warning screen removed)
Flashme_stealth_noauto (boots slot-1 flash card first, rather than slot-2, warning screen left intact)

I think you have to run from slot 2 as it is a gba file. If i am wrong, someone please correct me? I know there is a slot 1 gba emulator, but, I am not sure if anyone has tried flashing from it.

wrong thoughts, and from this thread it can be done Flashing a DS witha slot 1 card, Title says it all.

Personally, i do not see the benefit of flashing, since you have a slot 1 cart. If you were using a slot 2, well i get it sort of. (to show that i am not biased without knowledge, i have a dslite ~not flashed and my daughters dsphat ~ flashed).

I flash the DS because
-can recoverry if brick   -  I don't think i will need this
-can play download-play from slot2 card (many of my friends still use slot2)

Yes, you can flash it from a slot 1 doggy. I flashed mine with either my R4 or SCDS1(can't remember which one I used). So, you'll be alright.
