[07-09-25] 1.9b Recovery Disc

The recovery disc for wiikey 1.9b has been added to the Resources section. If the upgrade process is interrupted before reflashing is completed the wiikey chip will be left in an inoperable state where it cannot load GC/Wii discs. The Recovery disc can be used to restore its firmware.

the Config Disc 1.3 is now available for download. USe it to enable the GC Full Regionfree feature on 1.9b firmware.

And before anyone waste their dvd's on the config disc, the brilliant Wiikey team did not make the config disc compatabile with the 3.0 Wii update so you will have to build the config disc with GCOS to get it to work. These idiots are amazing.

**Edit** I added a link to the GCOS version of the 1.3 config disc I made up in the first post. It's ready to burn and use unlike the one Wiikey released.

Question, Devs...

The update iso says i need to "pad" it to the appropriate size or I will not be able to burn it on a DVD. The readme is confusing on how to achieve that. Can you teach me how? Thanks.

Just open imgburn and burn it, no need to pad it.

the GCOS version of the 1.3 config that was added to the first thread is ntsc so only use if you have a ntsc wii

DeVS can you add a PAL & JAP version to the first post as well??

Well the odd thing is some people are reporting that some of the Wiikey config disc work. Not sure why it works for some and not for others. If someone runs into a problem I upload there version premade.

when my pal version didnt boot i just automatically used GCOS in the 1.2 config disc & booted it from there & that worked for me

I hope someone can write the steps to updating their firmware.  I will try during the weekends but hope there's some written documentation (I haven't checked the downloaded stuff).

It's this simple. Burn the iso to a dvd with imgburn and put it in your Wii and launch it. You will get a message that says something like "initializing dvd drive, drive initiated, stopping drive" Then at the bottom it will say press "reset" or the "A" button to test. Push either one of those and it will test the integrity of the update. If you don't get any errors listed and it gets to 100% and says done then your good to go, just hit "reset" or the "A" button once more and it will flash your chip and count up to 100% again. After this says 100% and done hit any button and your Wii will reset to the Wii menu and your Wiikey is updated.
