Just some quick questions about the Wiikey and some other stuff:

1.  Will original games work after installation?
2.  Is there any way to brick your Wii?
3.  What's GCOS?  What can you do with it?

I was sure I had more, I've forgotten them now.. will edit if I remember.

1. yes
2. not too possible, unless you mess up the soldering as it is not easy with the wii
3. GCOS is 'GameCube Operating System', well i imagine and it allows you to play back'd up GC games on the wii. You can even make a multi game disk with the version from Emu_kidid (he posts regularly on wiinewz see here http://psx-scene.com/forums/gcos/ and at tehskeen.com

The wiikey does work very well, from my experience. They had a rocky start getting the sound issue fixed with a couple GC games, but they came thru with a fix for SMG fairly quickly, about a week i think.

Yeah. The Wiikey team totally redeemed themselves with the fast SMG update.

I reckon bricking the Wii is possible if you insert a PAL game on your NTSC Wii and the PAL game performs its own Wii update.  Same goes with NTSC game updating a PAL Wii.

Wiikey team released that SMG update pretty quickly although I got that Error #1 just the other day.  Turn off and then back to on, SMG booted fine.

Is there any way to check the region of a game before putting it in your wii?  And, as long as I play pal backups on my pal wii, there's no chance of bricking it with bad firmware, right?

PAL game on PAL Wii.  That's good, at least so far.  There are ways to make NTSC games playable on PAL Wiis without bricking them, but it's not very straightforward.

I don't know what you can do to check the region, but just be careful of what you load.
