What is the overall thoughts on whether to use Flashme or not? There seem to be Pro's (Can prevent Bricking) and Con's (Might not be able to use with newer games or online games)... what is your opinion?

Deadmon

I'm not planning to Flash my DS for a bit until I see what online games can do to the DS. But I plan to stay with passme because a few more games work nicely with passme than flashme.

And you really can't get bricked unless you're not careful of what you're downloading. >_>

Koji

I'd try get flashme. You never know when someone might slip a bricker into some software. It's better to be safe then sorry.

And I've said this a few times, and I'll say it again. You really shouldn't worry about the new wifi games because Loopy has said there will be a new version of flashme as soon as he gets all the info he needs. If you want to play a new wifi game before then, it's still easy to switch back to the original firmware.

So can you freely go from one firmwre to another?

Yep, seen you say it many times. XD

moviecouple: Should be a yes, though sometimes when you install a firmwire you can't downgrade, like supercard firmwire for example. Not sure about flashme.

On the DS flashme main page, it has the upgraded firmware AND the original firmware on it.

Well, I'm not sure exactly what the noflashme file does.  I mean, yeah I've used it, and I know it uninstalls flashme, but if there are 4 DS Firmwares, how does it know what to return it to? Seems that it only reverts to a specific firmware image rather than your original firmware.  And supposedly it leaves garbage behind when it reverts.

noflashme returns the DS to the very first original firmware. This will have no ill effects on the newer models because the hardware is identical. There is nothing wrong with the older firmware, games will work the exact same no matter which firmware is installed on whatever DS you own.

so therefore, no.  you can only return to the v1 firmware... but like Koji said the differences will not be noticable.

You can always do like I do.

Waiting a bit for each new rom released, or new appz to be sure some peoples tested them before :)

have to revive this thread coz i just recieved my supercard yesterday, and i havent decided yet whether to flashme my phat ds or not. im having a hard time looking for the pros and cons of flashme. so for now im just settling on using ssuperpass2 on running ds roms. hope you guys can help me :D

and also about the kernel software, what's it for? i've been reading and watching videos on how to flashme my ds, and now i cant find some articles on what's that for...

o by the way, i have a supercard cf and a superpass 2 bundle from real hot stuff, my uncle from san diego bought it from me.... im here in the phil... :D

Altor

If you noflashme a Lite, does it return to lite firmware?  (ok, so the answer's no, I'm pretty sure... so how would I go about doing that if I decided to?)

kalabaw

just flashed my ds and luckily it was successful! although it frightened me a bit cos the screwdriver i used shorting the sl1 connector wont start the % progress, after a few twist and turns of the screwdriver i finished it now my superpass needs a good storage so it wont collect dust
