This sounds weird, but can I use Supercard to retrieve the save area of an ACTUAL DS game and copy it to the SD card?

Basically, I want to take games I own and have played already - pull the saves off, and play the games off the Supercard using my old save data.

i havnt done it yet but i think it is possible with cory1492's etool.

use ETool 3.12G and included PC app and you can transfer saves off DS cart, must use quick power cycle to write the SRAM to SC .sav file but it works very well indeed. ( its how I tested the saves to be sure they would come off good and go back on proper too)

Thank you so much!  It took a bunch of fooling around, but I figured out the QPC step (that threw me).

For those wanting to do this, but are in the dark like I was, let me assist.

Step 5 of the instructions say:

5 - QPC and save to the sav file

Being inexperienced with the SC still, that didn't make complete sense.

Once you do step 4, quick quickly power off and on the DS.  Make sure if you're doing flashme, that the MOMENT you power on, you hold down the ABXY buttons to get to the NDS boot menu on the SC.

Once in that menu, select the SAVER option at the top, pick a save file from the list (be sure its not something you're using!!!).  A list of 4 or 5 'slots' will come up - just pick #1.  The save will complete.

Pull out the SD card, put it in your PC reader.  Drag the .SAV file you JUST saved over and drop it on the etool.exe.  It will warn you about something, but will still write a file to the SD card called xxxxxxxx.sav.out (depending on the name of your sav file).  DELETE the xxxxxxxx.sav file, and rename the xxxxxx.sav.out file to match the name of your game rom as outlined in the instructions.

So, if your the game you're wanting the save files from is Metroid Pinball, and your rom is named METROIDPINBALL.DSQ and you have a sav file on your SD card for some game you don't want called say  WARIOTOUCHED.DSQ.SAV ...

Follow the steps - in step 5, select the WARIOTOUCHED.DSQ.SAV file and 'overwrite' it.  Drag that file on the PC to the EXE file.  This will create a WARIOTOUCHED.DSQ.SAV.OUT file.  Delete the METROIDPINBALL.DSQ.SAV file, rename WARIOTOUCHED.DSQ.SAV.OUT to METROIDPINBALL.DSQ.SAV.

Throw the SC back in the DS and give it a try.  If all goes well, your saved games are now there!

i don't know wots goin on, i've tried this about 10x with super mario 64..and it keeps saying new game in all slots..any ideas? as soon as i see the complete in Etool i turn it off and back on with flashme ABXY.

this is frustrating

ohh Thank you sooo much cory1492. i was gonna go crazy  :shock:  from this. i musta done that 20 or more times after i posted. i figured i wasn't doing the QPC fast enough or something.

will there be a way with the US verison, or IS there for that matter?

There is a way to get it working. There is a patch flying around the net that fixes the saves for the US version.

If you've already got the E version, then truly there is no reason to get the U version. Not sure why people prefer to get the game from their region when ones from other regions usually work 100% identical... but I guess to each his own.

well i got the U verison coz i'm from America and that's the one i bought....where can i get the one that fixes US problems? any leads to where i can download it from?
