most people use emulators with the pc and take em with screen grab software on the pc but as you prolly know mate most emulators are pants and dont run the games well enough to get a screenie  :(

other than that most use good old digital cameras or just blatently pillage/plagurise/cut and paste however you wanna term it .. from other sites etc  ;)

There is no homebrew program that will take screenshots as you play a commercial game because once the commercial game loads, everything else in memory (including the homebrew program) gets cleared.  The DS doesn't have an OS, so running two applications at once is impossible.

It might be possible if a device manufacturer implements a patching feature to allow for a few screenshots to be taken and then converted into a human-viewable format upon the next bootup (the CycloDS Evo devs were discussing this possibility) but it's not something a homebrew coder could do.

Hmm SC DS one hooks into ds though for real time cheat menu's etc. so if you asked them nicely they may consider it !

What is it that game websites like GameSpot use? Do they have some kind of emulator that Nintendo has provided to them?

They probably have some special hardware (like the video-output ds's nintendo use for demos)
