Inaccesible 512MB Sandisk MicroSD, works fine in SCL Rumble?

I passed my SCLR and 512MB Sandisk MicroSD to my bro, and suddenly the MicroSD is inaccessible in Windows. I've tried to access it on 2 PC's (XP Pro SP2) and using 4 different readers:

Tiny PNY MicroSD reader
Sandisk MicroSD adapter in legacy built-in cardreader
2nd batch R4 DS MicroSD reader x2

None of them shows the MicroSD. Windows explorer just hangs or crashes. The MicroSD works fine on the SC Lite Rumble, including saving.

Any way to reformat the MicroSD or at least save the savegames from it? My bro didn't keep .sav backups

Hi

Okay. You say the card works on supercard micro sd right? Then use dsftp for backing up you saves. Then reformat the micro sd card.

No Idea why it's acting like it is, but this I'd think would work.

That would only work if he has DSFTP on his card to begin with.

Have you tried accessing it with a Linux LiveCD boot disk like Knoppix?

liquidnitrogen

wait -.- do you even have ds ftp on your card? heh....

another solution i can think of is to use LINUX, maybe it'll work...

go download a LIVECD like Knoppix, and boot into that... plug in your (micro)SD card into your reader and hope it reads it (it should...) and then upload it to a site.... or someplace, email yourself.

then reformat the card under windows and put everything back together! heh

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried with the latest Knoppix but it complains about the filesystem being unknown. I guess there's little I can do since Windows XP SP2 (2 diff PC's), Win98SE, Knoppix 5.1.0 and Some digital camera won't read/mount the card, using different readers, with or without the SD adapter.

I don't have DSFTP on it, but I guess that won't work, since Moonshell hangs on the FAT initializations, and Beup, that used to work, doesn't work anymore either.

How on earth can my SCLR read it? I guess there's no way to format it when it can't be mounted. I tried the mediacard swap function in Sukkopera's latest mctool beta, but it hang. Btw, I nearly broke my Kingston MicroSD trying to fetch it out of my SCLR, these things don't fit :(

Yeah...I had this happen to my precious M3 simply w/ a Kingston 1GB (company I buy from said it was japanese..must be a factory error, coz it says in big letters "TAIWAN") I was being a good boy at the time, too...by ".sav backups" you are a romzer. I was running NesDS at the time, but it WAS homebrew. I was saving a state, and I noticed that it took longer, and I was about to press my DS phat's off button, knowing that THAT may erase my MicroSD, but it finished "saving". When I went to load another homebrew, it said FAT error, and 5 seconds later, beeping as if GB/A cart removed...I had to reformat. I used a recovery tool, but that made the card worse. I recovered my DSLinux personal files (the porn was deleted :( (XD ;) just kidding)) and reformatted it. I had, like, every homebrew ever, for every system the DS can emulate...and im sorta naughty...some copyrighted .d64 images for frodo. But then again...frodo DS includes a Jumpman snapshot, lawl.
I wish, I wish, i had backed up...because I lost my precious Colors!/DSO art.
