my wii hasnt been able to play copys for a couple of months it plays originals fine & ive got a few to keep me going for a while

has nintendo brought out a updated that stops wiikeys working while ive been away?
has anyone heard of wiikeys dieing?
ive checked the solder points & the ones on the wiikey look ok
but the ones on the D2B chip look like the touching do they look like they have all move over??

DeVS

Ya they are defiantly bridged there on the middle left. There is no new Nintendo update that prevents modchips from working. There is a new Wii update though (works fine with mod chips) that is supposed to make the OS more stable.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!. .... oh... i thought that was one of those vids that showed the monster real loud at the end!

kidding.

Mine has been working for a while now but I've always kept my Wii offline fearing Ninty would strike my console down.  All it takes is one software update with the chip detection code that'll kill the console...  :-[

i tryed to get a razer blade in between the touching solder points last night but it snapped the solder off it looks like ill have to send in for repair
theres also a lot of posts over at gbatemp with wiikeys dieing so i might need a new wiikey fitted as well :ticked:

Fuck Wiikey. Im waiting for the new Wasabi to reach retailers this coming week and im switching to it. Here is it's website if u want to check it out:

Then you can sing "...hot like wasabi when i bust roms..."  Devs, is your wiikey not working anymore? I am pumped for the wasabi, been watching for reviews of it on wiinewz and tehskeen but none yet. I will most likely keep the wiikey until there becomes an issue as i am happy with it at the moment.

DeVS

No works, but now the new bullshit about it not working with RETAIL disc like Super Smash Brother Brawl, has gotten me more pissed with this whole mod chip then ever before. I mean I can 100% see a new game come out and have new protection and the Wiikey needing updated to fix the new copy protection, but when the damn thing prevents a retail game from booting, thats just amateurish bullshit. Im gonna install a Wasabi in my nephews D2C Wii so when I can order the chip for him im just gonna order 2 and redo my wii. Hell I even have a brand new sealed D2Ckey with the D2Ckey Flexpcb sitting here on my desk that I was gonna install in his Wii, but now that the Wasabi was announced im just gonna try and resell the D2Ckey.

i never thought about getting a newer chip ill definitely look into it thanks

@devs, how does the flexpcb look and seem to you?

DeVS

Looks fine to me, just regular flexpcb build. I put it over the outside of the sealed D2Ckey package and the points line up perfectly.

i ask as a friend of mine does not want to solder his, so i was going to suggest this type of product. thanks

DeVS

Ya were there is still the solder job of soldering the flexpcb to the dvd drive chip and those points are SUPER small.

i would do that for him, he didnt want to solder to the wii, only use the wiilclip or whatever it is.
