Is the DS One Good? I am looking very hard to find a really good card for ds, I used to have the supercard lite rumble and it worked great! So is this card good? Note* all I want is for Ds games and nothing else, no gba, no homebrew nothing, just ds games. Also If I get this card (I already have a SD card) I just drag and drop the games right?

So right now I have the money and am ready to buy at any moment! So can someone give me some pros/cons and if there is anything better out there at a better price please link me to it and I will buy it immediatly! Thanks!

Also everyone seems to recommend R4 for some reason, why?

All slot-1 devices let you drag and drop games onto the card to play them.  The SCDS has a separate patching menu on the DS itself that adds several features to DS games, while most other devices silently patch the games in memory at runtime without informing the user that it's happening.

The R4 is popular, but at this point it's actually one of most outdated carts still widely available.  It would work for your purposes, as it's simple to use for DS gaming, but you'd be limited to 2 GB of space.  You might also have trouble getting firmware updates since the R4 v3 just came out with SDHC support.

If you want advanced features such as in-game cheat editing, in-game guide, slow-motion, multiple save files per game, etc. you'll want a more advanced device.  The CycloDS Evo and Supercard DS would work well then.

Thanks a lot man! I went with the DSone.

So Can I have the Internet browser in the ds with ds and will it work? Also, Can the DSone play nes, snes, and other emulators? Just not gba right?

dantheman

You cannot use the official Opera web browser without some form of RAM in slot-2, as is the case with every slot-1 device.  You can however use several homebrew web browsers that don't require extra RAM, such as DSOrganize, DSHobro, Bunjalloo, and Okiwi.  NES DS and SNEmulDS will both run fine from an SCDS.

Again thanks! And one last question lol, I want to put Snes, GB, and Nes emulators, so do I NEED moonshell in order to play those? Or can I just put the emulator on the card along with the roms and Im all set? Im not a big fan of moonshell.

LOL your going to be disappointed with your scdsone then because the Operating System (menu) is based on a old version of moonshell

WOW! lol oh well! It gets the job done so I cant complain, but what irony lol!

dantheman

Yeah, the menu itself is based off Moonshell 1.41.  So you will basically be using Moonshell to launch the emulators, though usually that is not required.

At least you can skin the menu to make it more appealing to you.
