Anyone using the Wlip or Wii-clip?

Is anyone out there using the Wlip or Wii-clip style (or other brand) of chip install? Looking for your opinions good or bad as this looks like the way to go if you have to install a D2pro or other chip.

The problem with the Wiilip appears to be overheating if left on standby (that's what the Spanish manual indicates). In this case the Wii chip is covered with plastic and doesn't allow for heat loss.

Surely the best option for the Wii chip that you have is the Wasabi mod-chip (already mentioned here and now available) which only has 8 (?) soldering points rather than the huge number with wii-clip.

I installed the Wii-Clip into my Wii a fortnight ago. It was straight forward and have had no problems since. Definitely the way to go. :D

What about the key-clip?

There is no soldering at all with this and it comes with a programmer. It also up-dates via the WiiKey discs.

It also states that they ran the Wii for 720h with no overheating problems. At about $40/£20 it looks like a good bet for those of us who are considering this sort of thing but can't solder at all.

The key-clip is basically a wiikey, correct? Does it work with D2C chips? i thought it was for D2A and D2B only?

Yes, it's only for those (plus the original). I see there are other, similar connectors for other mod-chips

It mentions at the end that they are working on the clip for the Wasabi chip which should be available in a few months.

I've just installed a key-clip and have to say that it is simplicity itself! The clip can simply be pressed over the chip without even having to remove the DVD connectors. It is a very tight fit and, once the DVD is replaced, is very securely positioned.

Highly recommended provided you can find a computer with a parallel port to flash the chip.

I am using a Wii-Clip + WiiKey that I just installed last week or so. Its pretty awesome so far, no major problems to report except that sometimes the Wii can't read the burned discs (which is expected).

I`m using a D2pro sp1 with Wii-Clip. I have a Wii with cut drive pins. Only problem I had was that the chip was already soldered to the clip so i had to desolder 4 points for it to work on the older chipset. It works perfectly no errors or overheating. It`s so easy to install and when yout your Wii back together there is no way that the clip is going to move.
