SSBB Speed Issues

I hope this is the correct place for this and that someone my be able to offer advice:

I have been given a copy of SSBB for my son to use until the official disc is released in the UK (it has been on pre-order since Sept 2006!). The problem we have is that the Space Emissary section runs at a very slow speed, while the classic runs at the normal speed. We have been running the Wii via the RCA cables through a VCR. I switched to running it through the scart adaptor and it speeded up for one session, but has now reverted back to slow-mo.

I have done Google searches and there is a suggestion that it is much better in 600Hz mode. We tried this but only obtained a black screen after the initial splash screen. There should be no problems as the TV has been set up to receive 600Hz signals.

Does anyone have any further ideas on this or do we just put up with it until it is officially released?

Thanks.

PS the supplier put Brickblocker on it, so I don't know if this may be the problem. The chip is WiiClip, same as the WiiKey. Using 1.9s/firmware/config.

i cant imagine this has much to do with cables OR output settings, my guess is that the disk is of low quality, and so is reading slowly

what brand is it?

It's a Verbatim +R dual layer, burned (I'm told) on the slowest speed setting.

Unfortunately, although he has left me his hard drive, I don't have any dual layer discs to test. I think that we will just have to put up with it until our copy arrives.

Thanks

It now appears that the problem was due to the children skipping the video sequences to get on to the next battle- now that they are watching them things are going more smoothly. It must have confused something!
