I just got a new 4gb CF card (know for a fact its not bootleg) to replace my old 1 gb, but it doesn't load my NDS games right.  all of them just show white screens.  I've formatted it into FAT and can't figure out what's wrong, I think I'm skipping over something?  any help would be much appreciated.

Did you format that in fat16 or fat32 ? because fat16 only handles up to 2 gig.

crap really?  I could have sworn I read on here that somebody uses a 4 gig CF card for their Supercard.  dangit.

There's a way to format the 4 GB card to FAT16, but only for CF cards (not SD) and it must be done through the command-line.  I forgot who knows the info, but I think it's either onekelly or bitblt.

Slingshot

This tool lets you format fat (fat16) on up to 4gb mem cards.

Quote from: eggI have a 4gb CF which works at full capacity. You have to format it at command prompt (XP)

format H: /FS:FAT /V:GBA /Q

Where H: is whatever your drive letter is and GBA can be named to whatever you want to appear.

It will say you must accept 64kb block size (as per previous post) so just reply "y".

Only issue I've found is that upgrade.scu doesn't work from the root, but I just used a spare CF for that.

Just a shame I don't have 4gigs of bought games to make back ups of...

thanks guys for the help.  now some games I have working but many others still give me nothing.  I'm not sure if its the conversion or whatever.  gah.

bitblt

This should work from the COMMAND prompt:
(replace X with your flash drive letter)

FORMAT X: /FS:FAT /V:NDS /Q

I have a SCCF and a 4GB PQI CF memory and every DS game and homebrew I've tried works. What game are you having problems with?  Check your patching options.

I have formatted 4GB SD cards using the above method as well, and it does work just for the record (Transcend 4GB and Sandisk 4GB tested) Should work fine with the CF as well. What brand card do you have?
Nintendo DSi
Nintendo Wii - cIOS38 Revision 12 (and more)
Madden PSP Slim v5.00 M33-6

:/ believe me I tried that command prompt many times.  I have tried the Kingston and now the AData brands for 4 gigs.  I haven't changed anything save for the CF card itself.  updated my firmware and conversion program as well.  right now the only games I have working are Chocobo Tales and Brain Age, oh and my Japanese dictionary...sorta.  half of the display for that is gone once booted up.

I'm about ready to give up and upgrade my SC to the lite version or something cause I don't think dealers sell the SCCF cart anymore. do 4 gig micro and mini SDs work?

thanks to everybody that replied.

It would be rather difficult to find a 4 GB miniSD or microSD card that wasn't SDHC (slot-2 Supercards do not support SDHC) and even then it would probably be just as unstable as what you're going through right now.

What will you be using this for?  If it's mostly DS games, you could get a slot-1 device that supports SDHC and then you wouldn't even have to bother with rom patching.  You could also then add a slot-2 expansion pack to add GBA gaming (and Opera web browser support), again with no patching needed since GBA ExpLoader patches on the fly.  It's worth looking into at least, especially if you want to use high-capacity cards.
