Nintendo is not doing this to stop piracy.  They're doing it to change the wifi settings to allow the network games to function.  They werent' sure what type of network setup they'll have so it took till now to release something to upgrade the firmware.  I'm gonna go downgrade mine and wait for the upgraded flashme.

And what if you dun use wifi ? No update at all ?

I think I'll still wait until someone run and tested his supercard after to get it.

Same way you used to install flashme except of course you use the original firmware (which you hopefully downloaded before).

Koji

Even if you didn't download it before, it's available on the flashme website.

I don't think I'll go through the hassle of changing my firmware back untill I actually buy the game, and hopefully by then there will just be a new version of flashme available so I won't even have to do that.

im more worried about all thous gents without flashme, wonder what will happen when thye get updated??? will theren sc cards stop working?
TF WAS THAT?

satanduck

or worse, u have flashme installed, to play mario kart you downgrade it to original, and then run mario kart. then your firmware gets upgraded and passme don't work anymore. then the new flashme comes out and you have no way to install it again!

It looks like they are not updating it, but simply storing a few wireless related settings in there, which would seem natural, but cause Flashme happens to be in places meant for Wifi setting storage they are excidently overwriting flashme and give you a bricked DS, might however easily recoverable, since flashme has protection for such a case. (PS: All just theoretical guessing, no idea what it really does)

Intentional bricking of DS would for sure be considered illegal in many countries, so I really doubt that Nintendo would try it. Beside it would be kind of pointless to hurt those people that actually buy the game.

Quotejust like psp, but they do it to try to stop piracy claiming they update stuff stop stuff from crashing yadda yadda,
They are mainly adding features and while they do they fix the 'security-bugs' as well. It also seems kind of natural to fix a bufferoverflow that can brick your PSP while viewing a image.
