Why not host all the files by torrent? then evrryone contributes to the bandwidth!

That would be alittle useless.... the firmware (1.5 and 1.52 combined) and  the 2.42 patcher only take up about 3.8 MB.  Unless you're talking about roms.  It's against the rules to talk about it here, but if you know where to look than they all are already hosted by torrents.

it's a very good ideia. I would leave my pc on but my 15Kb/up wont change something.

Dudu.exe

i allways upload 3x more then i uload to help spread the files i download

i keep a steady 27 times more up than down... but slippy, its not about accelerating the download, its about redundancy and server load. that way, there would be much less load on supercard.cn and scdev.org. people would download the file and then serve the file. maybe 15 downloads coming from the server and then the network could handle the common downloads. (e.g. some people might download at 1:00 am or somthing...) :)  :o

It's true that it could reduce the load, but why?  Torrents are generally used for bigger files, like game demos, patches, software etc.  A torrent for a 1 meg file is redundant.... the user still has to download the torrent file which is usually about 10 kb anyway.  I'm not saying that 10 k and 1 m are even close to the same, but they are still very tiny in comparison to most web hosting packages.  Torrents are a good idea and I would support any if it were needed, but I highly doubt that the sites and mirrors are hurting in any way to supply around 4MB of bandwith to every user that needs it. The real server load comes from jackasses on the M3 forums that think it's fun to launch a DDOS attack on a rival company and it's customers.   Just my 2 cents.

exactly! this would avoid ddos attacks (i forgot what the first d was...) and also a larger package could be hosted. e.g. the whole sites up to date files...
