You can put on a lot.

It depends on what roms, since some are different sizes.

On my 1 gigabyte sd chip, i have about 5 roms, 2 movies, and 2 albums(mp3's) and I have plenty of space for more.

Most roms are 16 or 32 megabytes, so you might be able to fit about 20(if there average size ones).

That guy emits feaces when he opens his mouth... You can put quite a few on depends on the size of them, some are 8MB some are 64MB one is even 128MB, I usually have about 10 on mine  :)

As someone with a 512, I can tell you that I've gotten to the point to where my 512 just isn't QUITE big enough.  I am constantly removing this or that to make room for something else.

If you have the means, pay the $20 extra, go a Gig ... worst case, you have room for some MP3s via moonshell :)

Koji

there is only 1 64mbit game and that was bomberman, and I think nintendo has discontinued the 64mbit cart line and maybe the 128mbit line as well (bubble bobble could easily have fit into a 128mbit with lots of spare room, but it was released in a 256mbit cart)

Anyways, the average carts are 256 and 512mbits so 32 and 64mb. So you'll get about 7-8 512mbit games on a 512mbyte card. Though you should probably leave a good 15% of your card empty as cards that are completely full tend to to lock up while you playing a game. (full cards have slower access times, the slower the access time the more likely a game will lockup)

As you can see, I already answered you.

HeadsUpSevenUp

512 Mbytes = 488 Mbytes formatted = 3904 Mbits

MINIMUM 6 roms... and that's before trimming!

at the moment i have a 256mb cf card with 19 mb space left
this is what ive got on my card

I have 256mb card and have on average 8-10 games on it at a time, it is a pain as I have to keep wiping roms off for new ones!  What I will say is mine is full to the brim like 256k left or something LOL and I don't get and crashing/freezing at all.

This is why I just bought a 1gb CF card from Newegg. - $40 after rebate! My 128mb one isn't cutting it. I made a list of every halfway decent ROM that I would want on the card, and every one fits on a 1gb card. Can't wait!
reaking news: No one really cares what hardware or ROMs you have.

Critical_Impact

I have 3 1gb SD cards, i've run out of room for nds games on two of the cards so i might have to delete some gba games off my third one and put nds games on it
