In a ~5 mile drive (~8km) around the city I live in, I picked up over 320 devices with this thing.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Wow... got v.2 working and I was just walking down the street and I found no less then 8 wireless connections... (none of which appeared to be protected either) which I was not expecting at all since I live pretty much in the middle of no where. I knew one other person did because they had been hijacking my connection for weeks before I figured out how to block their attempts... was hoping I'd be able to use my DS to track them down... but it looks like it might be more of a pain then I realized.

You need another DS to triangulate =)

Can you not lock your wireless to MAC addresses?

I've done that since (and I added WEP since I'm now paranoid with more of my neighbors having wireless devices then I first thought)

And I actually wondered about with my DS some more and I'm 99% sure I found the bastards that had been harvesting my connection before... Which is just as well, their connection is unprotected and accessible from my house if I chose to do anything... which I probably won't. It may come in use later and it's better if they aren't aware that I can access it.

Never know when a site I need to get to might ban me and I need another IP address to access it.
