SD Card compatibility?

I'm sure this gets asked a lot, but is there any card-level compatibility I should be concerned about when I'm shopping for a SD card, or can I just get the cheapest 1 gig SD card the egg offers?  This would be primarily for DS stuff - I have a F2A that I can use for GBA stuff if I'm not happy with the SCSD in GBA mode.  I remember seeing somewhere some guy figuring out the math on the SC transfer rate and deciding it doesn't get over 10x (?) so don't bother with the super-l33t 300x cards, but I don't know if that was for real or just some guy talkin'.

(I ask because I see a fair number of ZOMG MY NEW (whatever) SD CARD DOESN'T WORK topics, and I'm not sure if it's a compatibility problem or a PEBCAK problem..)

I bought a 2G patriot sd card for $139 with a $30 rebate. It was $109.  It says 133x transfer rate -  20MB/s and it works fine for me.  No slowdowns were noticed.  I think that is cheap "money wise" for a 2G sd card.  It is now  $99 after rebate.

I have a Viking Interworks 1GB SD card. It works great and I don't experience any slowdown in games like Tony Hawk.

I have a 512MB PNY/generic (Japan), a 1GB PNY/Toshiba (Taiwan), & a 1GB SanDisk (China). All three work, all three are the lowest speed in the line-up. No spotable differences in gameplay, but the 512MB genero loads up a touch more smoothly for the intros/videos.

Find a good deal & keep your fingers crossed... it'll prob be AOK.
