Cracked hinge

Anyone here with a ds lite better check this out.

I checked my hinges but no cracks but the hinge is getting loose. Any of you with that crack hinge problem?

its from the us release 11 june. I have never droped it or anything

Oh, weird. My Lite is from the Japanese release date and it hasn't cracked yet...*knock on wood* The hinge is getting loose tho =[. Maybe you should try calling Nintendo and see if they'll replace it.

No I am going to go to target today and see if I can return it. they should let me because I have a stuck pixel and a cracking hinge now

I think its just a bad batch got through in the launch load for North America. Bad specs on the injection mold creating a stress fracture, something like that. I bought mine a couple days ago ... I guess there's a chance I'll see a crack in a few weeks, but I'm not worried about it.

I bought the Japanese Navy Blue DS Lite and the hinge on the left side is indeed cracked. I could have lived without knowing this, never noticing, but now it's there and I'm sad.

From the looks of things, Nintendo won't cover this in the warrenty (the warrenty actually states that physical problems aren't covered). Several people have tried, but ended up needing to pay. If a good number of people bring this issue up, however, there may be a chance their policy will change.

Well I returned mine to target and got my money back so now I need a new one does anyone know a place to get a good deal on the system or get a free game with the system? are blacks the same price if I get it imported?

Okay I just bought a new white DS lite today and your right the new hinges are alot more stronger. I dont see any cracks on this one but Im expecting it to appear. I dont have any stuck pixels like last time either. I wonder why nintendo didnt realise this their system has been out for about 6 months now

I think it's because theyre too busy meeting the demands in Japan. With such high demand and high volumes produced something bad is bound to happen.

I think it only cracks when you open it out flat alot. From the day I bought it I haven't opened it to 180. I think it is because when you open it all the way,
theres that second click but who knows.

Hopefully Nintendo sees this soon and takes care of it.

Argh, mine is cracked too! I never would have noticed if not for the various websites and photos.... grrrrrrr. I treat this thing like a baby too.

I had a first-wave Navy DS Lite from japan which i sold just 7 days ago, and got a white SouthEast Asian DSLite (here in singapore). I have only had it 7 days, and treated it very carefully, and after reading that story, I checked, and mine too has a small crack on that hinge!

Nintendo should do something. it's obviously a design flaw.
