hello,

i have a supercard mini sd and a superkey and everything works fine.

except when i try to connect with wifi enabled games over the net.

now, i did a lot of research plus tried many things.

first i'd like to present a small solution:

never enable "trim rom" for wifi games you want to play online, or you will get the famous "Error Code: 20107".

theses games MUST have the original size, not bigger and not smaller.

(i found this out because tetris ds worked fine, but tony hawks didn't. i looked at the sizes of both roms and got suspicious. after leaving tony hawk with its original size, it worked just fine!)

which leads me to my question:

with "metroid prime hunters" (tested with different releases and all language versions) this doesn't work. i can't connect over the internet, because i keep on getting the wrong size when using the supercard software.

no matter what options i choose i either get 64,3 or 63,4 mb but it should be 64.00 mb.

now, does anyone know how i can get the game patched (after all you need to patch it, to run it off of the supercard, no?) with the CORRECT size after the patch?

thanks for reading the whole post :) and thanks in advance for you help (hopefully).

Well, during my wifi experiences, I have found that trimming the roms do not interfere with playing online at all. I've trimmed MPH, Hawk, and Animal Crossing and haven't experienced any problems

well, i DO have problems ;) then is there a soultion to my problem you can think of?

not being able to connect online with MPH.

That theory can't be right, I just ran my Ez4 client for May, which is the fix for many people with ez4 who had connection trouble with the july patcher.. the May patcher (confirmed working) creates a..
63.5 MB (66,584,576 bytes) file which definately works.  (there is no trim option in the ez4 client, it does it automatically wether you want it or not)

It maybe a error in the new patcher (it happened on the ez4), try patcher 2.53.

Remember most people here probably used an older patcher , the one around when metroid came out.

well it's not a theory, it's what i found out after testing. so this then is only true for the exact same configuration as i have, using supercard software version 2.542!

That could be the case.

For you're problem I suggest trying the earlier patchers, and if that solves it let us know as others will obviously run into the same problem.

ok, tried both the 2.541 and the 2.53 version and both produce the same error :(

Try 2.51 and 2.50

edit .. I just checked the date metroid usa was dumped 20th march, the patchers around that time were 2.51 and 2.52 came out just after. So maybe 2.52 might be the best.

ok, tried versions 2.52, 2.51 and 2.44, still the same error :(

i'm still thinking its the size of the file (for me). how come all other games stay the same size as the original after patching, but mph grows in size? (with trim rom disabled)

meangreenie

are you running 1.62 firmware ?

edit... there is a thread at gba temp about the same problem... http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=30259

unfortunately there is no definative answer which might help you.

mmm.. maybe in the light of the Metroid trainer, Nintendo have upped their security. I would test it but I have no wifi.

but isn't it strange that the rom from tony hawk couldn't connect with a smaller filesize, but with the original filesize it could?

shouldn't this tell us something?

PharaohsVizier

Did you shrink it from the same file, maybe you don't have a clean dump.

meangreenie

Try patching the rom with trim on so you get the 63.4MB file.

now open that file in a hexeditor (XVI32 is the one I just used) and scroll to the bottom and highlight the last bit, should be 'FF' ..now use the 'insert string option' and put in a hex value 'FF'   and set the number of times to insert to 100,000 or something and press ok then save, check the size of the file and keep repeating the procedure and adjust as necessary to get a 64.00 MB file.

See if it works

edit.. here is a link  .. http://www.belkaplan.de/opera/tools/XVI32.zip

edit2.. let me know if it works ..I'm curious now :)
