Will a faster CF card improve slowdowns?

Sorry, if this has already been answered in the forum correctly, but up to now I've heard people claiming faster cards would give better results and others saying they won't.
So has anybody got two different speed cards and tested this?

No one can conclusively prove that speed makes games play better, but it has been proven that there are certain brands that seem to work better then others. We really need to compile a list of these and display them somewhere since I don't think anyone has actually tried yet.

The problem I see with compiling such a list is that someone would have to get hold of all kinds of cards to compare them. Because if you don't know EXACTLY how the slowdown looks on other cards, you can't really judge them.

I think the only way to compile such a list would be to get everyone to contribute... but of course what we'd need then is a benchmark proggie... however perhaps it wouldn't be too difficult now we have the FAT routines to knock up something that performs and times a number of non buffered reads ( and writes ? ) to the flash media and produces statistics / a score..
