It was all OK for last 9 months. I could play online DS games. Yesterday evening in the middle of playing Tetris online, I got disconnected. Nintendo's USB connector wasn't working. I pulled it out and inserted it back in and a pop-up appeared saying that the USB device is not recognized or it is malfunctioning.
I tried that many times, sometimes it got recognized, but after a short time I lost it again.

I have it connected to my laptop and MS USB mouse is working. That's why I unplugged the mouse and tried the WiFi dongle in other USB port. Still a no go.

Today I installed it into my machine at work and it works OK.

It appears to be the problem with my laptop, but what could it be? Is it possible that USB dongle draws to much power (it gets very warm after a short period of time) and it somehow damaged USB ports?

I also uninstalled and reinstalled Nintendo's software.

The strangest thing is, that when there's no Nintendo's software installed on my laptop, it allways gets recognized as a Nintendo USB WiFi, but after installation of the software, it fails to recognize the device.

Another update.

This thing is overheating. It was allways very warm on touch, but I guess 26 degrees celsius in my room is to much and it shuts down. After it cools down, it works again.

Does this thing have a warranty?

I would say a normal Nintendo warrenty of at least a year, you should contact Nintendo (if you find anything out, please post it again :)).
Btw, 26 degrees (celcius) is nothing, my room is generally much hotter.

Disregard all my previous 'solutions' :-)

Nintendo USB WiFi Connector consumes 400mA @ 5V = 2W

I guess notebook's USB power supply just couldn't deliver enough juice anymore. After I inserted the USB adapter into powered USB Hub everything was OK.
