I'm using a black ds lite (uk) and when I power up the unit I see the Max media splash screen, then both screens go white and nothing happens.

When I power up with just the SC lite in, the brower says
"There is a DS Option Pak inserted"

I have the lastest SC software on my PC, and copied the upgrade.scu file onto my microsd card.

I'm a total newbie so if you could let me know what I'm doing wrong here...

Try cleaning the contacts of the sc-lite, sometime manufacturing flux ect cacan be left on them. Otherwise it sounds like you have a dead SC, because you should be able to run in GBA mode no problem and you should not get that  "There is a DS Option Pak inserted" message.

note.. If you find the SC-Lite hard to get out, start at the extended edge side and alternate from side to side wiggling it out millimetre by milimetre until it comes free.

Thanks, it does seem to be something with the contacts.
If I pull the sc lite out a bit it works fine.
