Hello, I am new here. Anyway, I'm having trouble using nds mail. I am using a gamil account and am unsure if i entered the info. correctly. Is the "pop 3 user:" section supposed to have my email address.

What happens is that when i press the receive button, it says something like socket failed and cannot conenct to pop server. But my wifi light is blinking so I don't understand why this would be. Any help would be great.

The name POP stands for Post Office Protocol, and POP3 stands for version 3 of the standard.  As far as I know gMail does not support POP3, as gMail is a web based email service. Most free email services do not support POP3. You might want to have a look at gPopper but I have no experience with it myself.  Also, the Nintendo DS Browser (Opera) does work with gMail and other web based email.

You can enable pop in your gmail settings.

That is different.  That is to configure gMail to fetch email from other POP3 servers. It doesn't mean gMail provides POP3 service itself. AFAIK gMail does not provide POP3 service.

NDSMail requires connecting to a POP3 server, just like Outlook Express or any other non-web-based email client.  For example if you are using cox.net cable service then the POP3 server would be pop.west.cox.net

EDIT: I found this POP3 server for gMail so I guess I was wrong . . .
pop.gmail.com

If you have gmail i suggest you recheck your statement. As I CAN use gmail with outlook 2003 using the pop3 protocol.

Thanks for that correction Zygarth. I did qualify my statements with "as far as i know".

Well then . . . perhaps you can help ryankilpatrick with his gMail configuration?

When you configured Outlook for use with gMail did you use . . .

"unsername@gmail.com"

or just . . .

"username"

for the pop3 user? Thank you.
