If you download Visual Studio.net before November 7th 2006, you have it for free forever.

The catch is the setup.exe download files from Internet so you won't have the full instalation when you download.

The trick is, when you open (exemple) vbsetup.exe it will download the full installer. When the setup is installing VB.net 2005 Express (After download is finish).  Go to :

C:\Documents and Settings\*****\Local Settings\Temp\

***** (means your Windows Username)

and check for a folder named VSSETUP50727.42 inside there should be a folder named 1033.

The full installer is inside. (for Vb it's ixvbsetup.exe).

Remember you have to do this while Setup is installing the software. (That's means after setup have finish downloading and before the setup finish cause after the instalation finish. Setup will delete these files on the temp folder).

Repeat for :

VisualBasic.net 2005
Visual C#
Visual C++
Visual Web Developer
Visual J#
Visual Studio .net 2005 Express MSDN

** For J# and VB.NET you will have also a folder called wu, inside there is DOTNET Framework for VB and J# Runtime.

Afterward go to help menu and select register. It's free and you will get a serial number. Write it down on a .txt and put everything on a DVD.

Voila you have a life time VS 2005 Express DVD.

Enjoy from the folks at Microsoft.

These editions dont explicitly say .NET, but Im fairly certain they are. If not, it is still the entire suite in very easy to download and install packages:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/install/

all redistributable downloads, no web installers. the only downfall is that you have a lot of duplicate data on each that you have to download (.net installers, etc).

NT

That's really nice of Microsoft to do that.

They certainly are .NET and they are for .NET Framework 2.0 which is a good thing.

ASP.NET 2 is pretty cool :)
