SRAM Error / CPLD Error on different addresses after 1.63 Up

I first performed an Self test of my SuperCard Mini SD after i upgraded it from 1.60 (or 1.61?) to 1.62. All Points of the self test were "OK"!

Tonight i updatet it to 1.63, made the self test and got an error message on the first test page "SRAM Error" on different addresses (as i repeated the test i got the errors on other addresses) and also CPLD Error.

Is my SC Mini SD really broken? Is the test maybe complete nonsense, because the card is not really testing all the memory addresses (this would need more time, i guess)

Is this just an software error, because of 1.63...

P.S.: Sometimes i also got the "SD not find" Error... (not since i upgraded to 1.63, it happend also in the past)... i guess this is a wide spread error...

by the way...

SRAM Error? Is this the memory were the SC stores the Save files of GBA or DS Games?

...or is it the memory were it caches the GBA games before playing?

CPLD Error? Does anyone know what this is?

card boots... of course... but if really some memory addresses are broken it takes time to test them...

a good way is maybe to take some 256 Mbit Gba games with different Save types and play them a while. If they don't freeze and save correctly, it should not really be a problem when the self test says: ERROR...

but anyway... "ERROR" sounds never good and a gives me a bad feeling when i'am playing

SRAM / RAM / DRAM Errors... are the biggest Problems with all backup devices, no matter for whitch system: SNES/N64/GB/GBA, someday, out of the blue: ERROR! I once had such an error with my Z64 for N64 - the games were freezing after a few minutes of playing...

i think that after august i'll send an email to the online store where i bought the sc..

anyway i'm going to try the 1.63b to see if it newly update the firmware (maybe solving our ERROR problem)

Bishonen

1.63b ??? a newer version than 1.63 is already available??? Where? supercard.cn... is down....

The download section here has the 1.63b update, as does supercard.tk... the md5sum of the new version is d7741f1cb7526a38029e555eb6489ca9 cheers

Bishonen

got the 1.63b update installed... still the same errors: SRAM Error on some addresses, CPLD to SRAM Error, CPLD Error - all other parts: OK

md5sum????? please????

I am having the same problems on two of my minis after the 1.63 update.  Everything still seems to work but I get the random address SRAM errors and the CPLD error when booting with the L/R test.  I might try to go back to 1.62 and see if that does anything.

Cunundrum

OK.. reflashed at 1.62.. still was getting the same type of errors along with the occasional cell error.  So I dropped the mini in my Phatty and it got no errors.  Weird.  I then put it back in the lite and got no erros.  This is at 1.62.  I then took out another mini I had with 1.63 and dropped it in my lite and got the sram errors.  Very strange.. seems the errors happen more frequently in a lite instead of a phatty.  Not sure if any of that makes sense.  Gonna keep testing.  Doesnt seem to affect the games though.  dunno.. scratching my head

sorry to flog a dead horse, but i keep getting sram errors when i self test on my mini sd, and now its gotten to the point where i can't update, or even put anything on my minisd, because when the supercard loads it , it will corrupt it all.

could someone please give me a definative that my supercard is broke.

Bishonen

what happens exactly when you put the SDMiniSD (with inserted SD) into the GBA/NDS and turn on power?

by the way... all my errors vanished into air...

after the CPLD and SRAM Errors i just keeped on testing the card by playing different nds and gba games... i sarted them out of the SC SDRAM or i streamed them from the SD. I used 32, 64, 128, 256 Mbit gba games with different save features (LOAD/SAVE)... all worked perfectly...
it seemed the shown errors of the self test just had no effect on any game...

5 days later i tested again... Everything all right, no errors.
2 days later... SRAM Address Errors...
i tested again... no errors...
2 days later SRAM Cell Error... a brand new error.
i tested again... no errors...

i looks like, as long as your card works perfect, it dosen't really matter what the test says.

I get the same problem with my miniSD version as well.

Each time I test, I get a different error in sram test.

So, I open up the SC and test the battery.  Turn out the rechargeable battery  cease working altogether.  It just doesn't recharge much now.  So, what end up is if I didn't use the SC for sometime (like an hour or so), all the power from the battery will be drain.  Now, if I test the SC under that condition, the battery will load down the power to the sram to a level that it need to operate.  As a result, the sram just can't work, so the test give out a whole bunch of error.  However, if I turn on the DS for a while with the SC in it so that the battery recharge, the sram will work again cause the battery will be charged to a point where it can provide the 3.3V power to the sram.

Come to think of it, I once left the SC in the car which park in a parking lot under direct sunlight.  So it kind of heat the SC up.  Guess that just dramatically shorten the lifespan of the Lithium Ion battery in there, or some component on the SC maybe broken due to that.

Bishonen

Left in direct sunlight... hmmm could be the reason... but i store my card always in dry and cold places without any sunlight and i'am treating it like a precious stamp.

In the last days i played around a lot with moonshell... by the way: i also peformed the self test on nds and gba again - NO ERRORS.
