I was wondering if there was any homebrew app that would all me to transfer files directly to another persons DS from my own? I suppose it would be possible with current apps to do DS to wireless router to DS. But I'd like to take the router out of the equation so I can trade files with my friends who also have a supercard.

Nope, nothing like that available at the moment.

If you could find a open AP, you could run DSFTP on one ds and a ftp client (within DSLinux) on the other one. If you want to take the middle part (router) out, you'll have to wait until Ad-Hoc is implemented in the wi-fi lib.
