Damn!! I bought my 1st DS Lite on 7/1/2006 then 2 weeks later I had to exchange it because the ds cart won't stay in  it keeps pop up,  One month after exchange it now has crack on hinge.   I have to go back for exchange again.  Sears has 90 days for return or exchange   every time you exchange you get renewal 90 days.  I hope they will let me exchange it.  Anyone have problem about exchange due to crack on hinge or something more than 1 time??  Let me know  thanks!!!

i have 2 dead pixles on my ds lite one is rainbow and the other is green which are really annoying.  You think best buy will let me have a free exchange.

Wow Sears has a good policy.  I bought my first one at Best Buy, it had a dead pixel.  They gave me a refund.  I took the money and went to Toys R Us, and it had a cracked hinge, I exchanged it, then it had a dead pixel, the I exchanged it again, and it had another dead pixel, I exchanged it again, and here I am.  No more exchanges allowed, they don't renew the 45 days for Toys R Us.  But fortunately for me, this DS seems pretty durable, and it has no dead pixels.  Every time I got a new DS, I flashed it, giving me tonnes of experience.

If my hinge cracks now, I'm pretty much screwed, I have no warrantee anymore, my 45 days just expired and my DS is like 5 days old.  I gotta go to nintendo if it breaks again.

Just buy a new one at Best Buy/Toys R Us and return your broken one with your new receipt.

You can't because they keep the serial number on receipt.

Note that it is relatively easy to remove the DS bottom cover and exchange it with another DS bottom cover.  Of course this would be felonious activity so I don't suggest anyone do this.

I've done it 3 times so far.  It's not exactly James Bond work.

Reasons: DS Lite with cracks, 1 with dead pixels, 1 that was stained for some reason.

1 of the DSL's were bought at Meijer (a Walmart type store), 1 at Toys R Us, and 1 at Best Buy.  ALL were exchanged at Best Buy with no problems.  In any case, if your particular Best Buy is being mean about it, then buy one at Walmart and exchange the old one there.  Walmart workers don't care at all.

I have dealt with a few DS Lite exchanges so far myself. Just got my 5th one tonight...cracked hinge right out of the box!!! Well, back to the phat until Nintendo sorts this problem(s) out!

List of problems I had thus far (with 5 different units):

1: Top screen had a HUGH red dot (dead pixel)
2: Right trigger did not click, and only worked sometimes
3: Bottom screen had nasty yellow tint
4: Left trigger did not click or work at all!
5: Cracked hinge right out of the box

This is reallyt unlike Nintendo honestly. I never had a single problem with any phat unit I owned previously...hmm
