Can someone test the battery life with this cart?

About 4hrs 43 mins on max brightness and headphones leaving it on Mario Kart intro.
About the same as a supercard.

Quote from: "bitblt"I can confirm FAT16 runs much faster than FAT32 with both my Kingston 512MB and my Sandisk 2GB.  I have not been able to get TonyHawk to work with the new patcher software. Also, Spyro - A New Beginning has glitchy graphics.  All other new (U) ROMs (553-603) seem to work fine.

Really?  I'll try that out!

We need to start a wiki page on this product so we can all document our issues.  I REALLY like the product, but the speed issues bug me - and while I haven't played NSMB mini-games forever, it now pisses me off that I can't play 'em :)

Weird ... I see no difference in speed between FAT and FAT32.  Strange.

Yes, I originally formatted my 2GB Verizon/Sandisk TF as FAT32, and the menu seemed a little slow changing directories.  So then I copied everything from my 2GB TF to my desktop, re-format my TF at FAT(16), and then put everything back.  Now changing directories and loading games is noticeably faster, at least twice as fast.

Did you try the Nitnendo DS Browser (E) ROM yet?

darkuni

Bet your ass I did ... Works GREAT!

I'll be posting a video.

Started a Wiki page ... we'll see if they nuke it or not.

i ordered mine from realhotstuff, and paid for express mail (unfortunately for me, it was mailed the next day and wont arrive til monday, which means it would have made no difference whether i paid for express or priority)..

but now i read that there is slowdown in animal crossing?  i'm shocked.. i thought this thing had awesome performance.. anyway, i have the original animal crossing cart, so its no big deal, but i'm still surprised..

darkuni

What I need to do is shoot video of both the original running and the ROM running on Supercard and DSLink so people can see the difference.

I own the original AC cart and a dslink and I don't *perceive* any slowdown personally but I haven't timed it or anything... ( using a standard sandisk 1g sd FAT16 w/64k clusters - defragged )

darkuni

The slow down occurs (like the other reports of slow down) during the intro, startup - then the game gets pretty close to the original.

I played the majority of my time on the real deal, so I don't know if the game slows down ELSEWHERE during the game.

I should try bigger clusters ... Forgot about that...

Video posted, showing the DSLink menu (NOT blurry - heh) system as well as the intro to Animal Crossing.

The bigger clusters DEFINITELY helps, BTW.  Use 64k ...

Here is a video I created to demonstrate performance differences between using FAT32 and FAT16. Using FAT16 seems much faster to me . . .

(please excuse the low sound volume)

i concur.  got mine today and did extensive testing.  definitely much better performance at FAT16 with 64k clusters.

one question for bitblt or whoever might know:  is there a way to convert 520k dslink saves to standard 256k saves?  (i wanna edit my animal crossing save using the PC map editor)
