Sad but true, only hours ago it was reported that Steve Irwin passed away during an accident while he was filming an underwater documentary at Batt Reef, Low Isles off Port Douglas in Queensland.

He died from a stingray barb to the heart.

If you bothered to look past the crikey's and the persona Steve was truly an awesome guy who provided care to a hell of alot of animals and people alike.

May he rest peacefully.

Needed? It's fact! The dude just took too many risks, this was bound to happen. Or did anyone thought he would live to be 90 and die of old age? He just took the wrong turn in the road to become famous.

Having said that, I'm not glad he died. A death is always a loss.
he Internet is a series of tubes. :D

I think that is unfortunate. I liked his style. My whole family enjoyed his flamboyant and charismatic personality. My 12 year old daughter was a big fan of his documentaries (she wants to be a Biologist). Peace Steve Irwin.

The thing is... the dude lived his life taking insane risks...

...and then died snorkelling in shallow water when a normally placid creature took a dislike to the fact he was swimming so close.

How Ironic.

I wasn't his biggest fan, but I admired him. It's a shame for Terri and his little girl and boy. I can see him being an amazing father and husband.

Oh well. It happens  :D
