I would also suggest watching the new http://www.dev-scene.com/News site, as it looks like it may be shaping up to be a major wiki hub for homebrew.

It would be good if there was some sort of ds homebrew podcast that sent you all the new releases automatically.

Not just about homebrew. It also tells which console sells better, which games are shiped right now and where, and which tools are now aviable for your device.
