"On August 24, 2006, Nintendo of America announced that two new model colors, Onyx (Jet Black) and Coral Pink (Noble Pink) will be available in North America starting September 13, 2006."

I'm on the verge of buying a DS Lite as well as a Supercard SD + Superkey.  My concern at the moment is if I go out and by a Black DS Lite on Wednesday am I going to be screwed when I get my cards.

I ask because I've heard that Nintendo regularly updates their firmware and such in response to these devices.  I also read in some random posts that the DS Lite Red version that was packaged with Mario Kart DS had this issue.

Any feedback on this question would be greatly appreciated.

Think Nintendo has only changed the firmware once back in the DS phat days. No one can answer your question with 100% confidence cause no one but Nintendo knows the answer. Most likely it wont change, but thats purely a guess since they didn't change from the newer phat firmware when the DS Lites came out.

I'll have a black one this week.  I'll be flashing it and let you know too!

oh wow, thanks.  Well, if someone's actually going to be testing it themselves then there's no point in further postulating.  I look forward to the results.

I'm getting a pink one either tonight (thats when the automated message from gamestops said they would have them) or tomarrow.
Flashing it as soon as I get it. At least going to attempt to, so yeah :3

Was there a ds lite "red" released with MKDS? If so, which country?

I read that the firmware not recognized is normal. I guess I'll try to flash it and if it bricks, I'll return my black ds again. I returned the first one because it had 3 bad pixels.
