Anybody using extended battery or higher capacity battery for more playing time? I'm curious what you guys are using and does it double battery life?

Mal'ganis

Well I got a "Dragon Heavy Duty Battery Pack" and its close to the same as the original. Note* its the same size as well it goes inside its not an exterior battery add on or anything.

Devil_Spawn

i cant find anything like that, can you post a link?, also do u think i might be able to mod a ds-lite battery into my ds phat with some wires?

ShinaKitsune

it might be able to they are the same voltage, its just the dslite has 2x the capacity (1000mAh for the lite, 850mAh for the phat) but the charging system is different since the dslite uses a higher power to charge the larger battery faster.... so it might take quite a while for the dsphat's charging system to charge the 1000mAh battery. (from what i found they both run on 3.7v though) but no definate info on anything... thats just what i found about the batteries from looking around a bit

i have a datel battery pack. it doubles the life of my ds and the quality of the 3rd party product is pretty swell. i had a asian version of pretty much the same product before and it was a total turd, you had to flip a switch to change between the 2 batteries and the connection to the ds was so crappy that it litterally disconnected in the middle of game play.

i'd be interested in some links for new battery solutions :/

or atleast full product names.

You can't find information on them anywhere, but I have the datel one available for sale. £7.00 and it's yours with the little screwdriver too. Just PM me if you're interested and I can get pictures and stuff for ya.

btw, the datel product is described as the only comfortable option.

My ds lite came with a 1000mAh battery...

ShinaKitsune

You are correct I just looked at mine and it is 1000mAh.
I must have just googled ds battery or something (when I had posted I didn't have my DSLite yet), there is a few 1600mAh batteries out there for the DS lite then and the stock one is 1000mAh. Sorry, and thanks for the correction I have edited my original post here as well.

yeah just getting back on that dragon one I talked about, Its for the phat, and I got it off eBay, I just checked again, they're still for sale runnin' somewhere around $10.00-$12.00. Only problem I've had with them is that they're a pain in the butt to change on the go, other then that they've performed just like the original.

here is the result of my research for the past week...

1. for dslite, i saw a Pega extended battery 1600mAh (orig is only 1000mAh). http://pega.manufacturer.globalsources.com/si/6008809833083/LargeImage/NDS-Lite-Lithium/product_id-1002083443/action-GetProduct.htm

2. for dsphat, i didn't find a high capacity battery replacement. the Dragon heavy duty replacement is also 850mAh i assume it would give the same hours of playing time as the original battery (also 850mAh).

thanks guys for your replies.

take a look at this one

it's actually a solar charger for the ds BUT it has a built in 1800mAh battery, so basicaly you can use it as a external power source for increaqsing the running time a lot, i mean its more then 2 times the capacity of the standard battery pack, of course everytime the damn thing dischargers you'll have to leave it charging on the sun(they say it charges in 4 hours under bright sunlite, it also works on artificial indoor light), but still I find it very interesting.
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

ooh~ extended battery life would be greatness.  has anyone tried or perhaps even tested these so called 1600mAh battery?
I also see a lot of these seemingly brandless ones on ebay, but my sense is telling me that any ol foo can type 1600 onto a sticker, am I wrong?

check this out: dragon 3600mah thunder power pack for psp/gameboy/nds.  it says it can "Quick charge and supply power for over 16 hours with Nintendo DS" its about 15USD. this is the highest capactiy battery extender/charger i've researched so far.
